Not much separation in Browns QB derby

The logic in Cleveland these days is that a tie in their quarterback competition will go to Brady Quinn.

If that’s the case, the Notre Dame graduate is in good shape thus far at training camp and could be celebrating soon.

The Orange and Brown Report watched Cleveland’s intrasquad scrimmage Sunday, and calls the quarterback performances a draw.

Quinn started stronger with a 51-yard score to Lance Leggett, but his team wound up losing to the one led by Anderson.  Quinn’s numbers were a little better, but he was playing with the second team offense against the second team defense.  Anderson competed with starters.

The NFL’s Thomas George was also in the house, and called the decision for Quinn.

The general buzz from Browns camp has been that Anderson might be slightly outplaying Quinn in practice, but there hasn’t been a lot of separation.

This battle will come down to the preseason, with Anderson probably needing a knockout to get the call in Week One against the Vikings.

    Is there any separation, though?

The obvious solution is to have a coin flip. Then trade the winner of the flip after he stinks it up in the first game.
That worked out pretty damn well in 2007, you know.

I was at the scrimmage today and Brady with the 2nd team offense looked a lot better than D.A. with the first team. The TD that he scored was set up by Brett Ratliff. I would have to say after today if I was the Head Coach of the Browns my QB depth chart would be Brady, Ratliff, and Bartel with D.A. getting traded or released.

Mike W I also was there and have to agree. Quinn outplayed Interceptionson hands down. DA was true to form. Five completions and then a red zone pick. Can we please trade this looser already. I cant watch another year of this garbage. Start Brady already. If he doesnt cut it, at least we know.

Quinn deserves a shot. Look at what he was doing last year befor he got injured. The other day he ended a scrimmage in practice with an 81 yard pass on target to a rookie TE. I would like to see DA throw the ball at least 35 yards ACCURATLEY just once

Anderson couldn’t hit Lake Erie from the shore, that’s how inaccurate he is. Browns fans should be concerned that Quinn isn’t the starter by default.
