Bengals cut Kenny Watson

Kenny Watson made it six years as a running back for the Bengals, outlasting high draft picks like Kenny Irons and Chris Perry.

His time finally came Monday, when the team released him.

Watson, who started five games in 2007, entered camp as a potential backup to Cedric Benson, but Brian Leonard and rookie Bernard Scott outplayed him.  Leonard is reportedly the favorite for the backup job.

The Bengals likely released Watson so early out of deference to his time with the team, giving him a shot to catch on elsewhere.

Good player that did well when he got a chance. Hopefully he can catch on with another team.

they also moved Shirley a DT to left guard, Luigs is #2 center, Michael Johnson #2 right DE, tank no1 Dt next to Peko and jermi johnson is no 1 fullback. All following bengals on twitter already know all of this. Watson was a good player. Sad to see him go, but the potential could be huge with the young guys.

I remember when he was an underdog in DC…the fans liked him there. I’m sure he’ll get picked up somewhere.

    Rosie,
Why hasn’t PFT covered Benson’s recent sh1t-talk, where he said the Bengals “hit the jackpot with him” and how the Bears are SO full of regret, how they must be “really, really sorry they let him go” and all that crap?
(He also went on to say it was “typical” for Thomas Jones to get in a fight, blah blah).
    So, why no coverage?
Was Benson’s boasting just too ludicrous, even for you guys?
No, something tells me that couldn’t be it–you guys publish any godawful sensationalistic manufactured mud-flinging tripe you can get your hands on or otherwise manufacture.
Did his trash-talk happen to not coincide with anyone’s (Florio’s) personal or political agenda/bias?
Or was it b/c it was originally someone else’s (an enemy’s) story/interview?
    So what’s the deal?
Trash, rancor, gossip–left alone by PFT. What gives?

I thought we tried and got rid of this “click to continue reading” stuff a couple years ago? Bring back the full-post blog-style site!
    Sincerely,

Dewey – That slipped under our nose. Will look into it.
Amm and everyone else: the continue reading that was on the post was a ggglitch . we are only using it for one liners.

While it’s kind of sad to see Watson get cut, I would think more newsworthy is the move of Shirley to left guard from d-tackle.

    Greggg,
Appreciate the rare show of backbone here–you should consider lending MoFlo some of it.
    Anyway, here you go:

Now, please tell NBC–while I appreciate their generous offer/pleas to join their payroll, my DIGNITY, decency, and good sense all forbid my employment with a liberal-mouthpiece outlet such as theirs.
Simply put, I would never accept pay from an institution that also pays Keith Olberwoman.
Thanks for the offer, though. ;-)

Bungles put out a press release on why they cut him.
Top of the list was “he just couldn’t seem to get arrested enough. Hopefully in the future he will try harder to be a turd so he can come back and be a bungle.”
    Bunch of criminals…

In my opinion this guy will definately catch on somewhere and FAST.
He is extremely quick to the hole but seems to go down easy. If he can have a proper coaching staff and a good weight team Watson can definately be one of those late bloomers. His hands are ok and blitz pick-up needs some work, but there is no denying his explosiveness.

When does an old joke thats not funny anymore just become nothing? Does your cable only provide you with espn classic? The Bengals jokes of getting arrested are as dry as jesus’ sandles. Dude do you live under an overpass in Pittsburgh? Are you the cardboard box with the terrible towel hanging from it? Bagging on the Bengals’ rapsheet is so 2006? Go hang in the alleyway of Primanti Bros. and fight for sandwich scraps with the rats you useless parasite.
