DeVries done for the year in Detroit

Lions defensive lineman Jared DeVries, a mainstay on the roster for the past decade, is done for the year with a ruptured Achilles’ tendon, according to the Detroit News.

“It’s one thing in this league to know that you’re injured, it’s
another thing to know that your season is gonna be over,” coach Jim
Schwartz said.  “And that’s a tough thing, when you’re as tough a player
as Jared.  When you’ve been through some of the things he has, that’s a
tough realization.”

DeVries was third-round pick of the Lions way back in 1999, two years before the launch of the Matt Millen era.  And DeVries finally became a consistent starter in 2006, with nine starts that year, ten in 2007, and ten in 2008.
