With Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb on the shelf, the rumor mill started swirling Monday around Philadelphia’s potential interest in a certain upcoming 60 Minutes subject.
Those rumors remain highly unconfirmed, but we do know Philadelphia signed former Arena League quarterback Matt Nagy, who has been working with the team as a coaching intern. (Marty Mornhinweg must have struggled in his tryout.)
Adam Schefter’s hyperactive Twitter account had the news first, and the Eagles have since confirmed the move.
Nagy’s time on the field figures to be short-lived. Kolb reportedly has an MCL sprain, but it isn’t believed to be too serious. He’s listed as day-to-day, alhough he’ll miss the team’s preseason opener.
As long as Kolb isn’t seriously hurt, the Eagles wouldn’t appear to have any need to add to the quarterback position.
No matter what rumors are out there.
AJ Feeley is still on the team as well, and he could easily be the #2-better fit than Kolb but they are trying to develop him as the number 2.
It doesn’t matter who the QB is in Philly. He’ll just throw behind, at the toes, or way too hard at intended targets
If the Eagles need a WR I can run around the corner to Quiznos and see what time Freddie Mitchell gets off.
Nagy is a good QB, if he is needed there is no doubt in my mind he could be a serviceable backup in Philly.
Mike Vick would make sense for the Eagles. He would be much better insurance then Kevin Kolb. Of course it would take him some time to get acclimated to the NFL.

This from the guy that said Jim Johnson died because the Eagles couldn’t win the NFC Championship game. Go back under a rock, pantywaste.
I don’t think Philly would welcome Vick. We desperately want a chamiponship, but we’re not a
“We’re happy no matter how we’re winning!” fanbase like the Patriots.
At least, I’d like to think so. I also think that Mc5 is the best QB the Eagles have had since Jaws, and yet half of the city wants to run him out on a rail, so… I guess I’m not representative of the population.
But if Vick ends up in green, and for whatever reason he ends up in a starting position, I’ll be in the odd position of cheering FOR my QB to have a career-ending injury.
Went to the Eagles camp and watched AJ Feeley perform. Out of 10 passed he threw 7 picks. But I guess it’s better than having a Detmer again….
The Eagles need a QB….They have plenty of depth at RB, WR, KR, PR so they dont need the likes of a Mike Vick.
I hear that Barack Obama played a little football in Hawaii.
Watch out! First they suit up Nagy as QB, when he came here to be a coaching intern…
Once Shaun Andrews pisses his way out of the Eagles O-Line, watch for BIG #77 ANDY REID FROM BYU to come on the RT spot and tear things up! Yee-haw!
When Rob David retired, he became part of the team’s faculty. Then their long snapper went down. However, there was a rule that you can’t active members of the team’s administration as players. Something about stashing players on the staff or something like that.
Could be a rule violation.
“Nagy is a good QB, if he is needed there is no doubt in my mind he could be a serviceable backup in Philly.”

Is this Joe Banner? If he is such a “good” QB, and you’re mine is clear of doubts. Then why the hell has he never had a job in the NFL, as a good backup QB?
nerd – I believe this wouldn’t qualify because he was only an intern. Not sure, but that’s my guess.
Either way it’s hilarious they signed coaching intern. Eagles are going far this year……..
First time Vick wasn’t mentioned in a QB column, good job Mr. Rosenthal. Commentators will do that for you.

Nagy is a camp body, nothing more. He won’t be on the roster in 3 weeks.
Good post Mr. Rosenthal, I’d like to see more of this on here, immediate rumor-squashing. If you guys get really into that, every time something stupid comes up folks will jump here first. More hits. Be the rumor-squashers in chief.
As soon as I saw Eagles and Vick, I didn’t even want to look but the car wreck factor got me. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find it about killing anything stupid before it starts.
Thumbs up.
Sign Brett Favre, at least we know he’s been throwing and observed by nfl personnel. Surgery to boot.
Whoever reported the Vick to the Eagles rumor was misquoted. Vick will not be playing at the Link, he will be hanging out in the prison underneath the Link during games.
Who would you rather have Vick in his prime or Cunningham in his prime?
It seems Barack Obama played a lot of pocket pool with other players’ pockets in Chicago.
That sucks.. The guy with the longest td pass in NFL history is hurt?
CUNNINGHAM by a mile. Vick had more natural athletic ability but was a below average QB. Randall could run like hell and throw the ball well too.
I don’t know why everyone’s so serious about this. There’s no way this is a “serious” move. They just want to give the guy a chance to show some stuff before they cut him. With the AFL in the shitter, hopefully Nagy can find something in the NFL.
easy randel way better to bad he never had a coach
We don’t want Mike Vick. I’d rather see the Eagles sign Florio to play QB than that hanious discount low life. I can’t believe he is even allowed to play in a game even again, let alone for money. People forget it’s a privelige to play in the NFL, not a right. Just because once upon a time you had a pair of wheels and you send cute and cuddly spokesperson Dungy on every sports media outlet doesn’t mean you should get to play again after you viciously executed innocent animals. Vick isn’t sorry he murdered many innocent, defenseless anaimals in sick, twisted and cruel ways, he’s sorry he got caught and lost his money. I wouldn’t sign him to be the water boy to squirt water in Winston Justice’s mouth…
Isn’t Todd Pinkston a coaching intern too? Let’s hope the Eagles’ WRs stay healthy.
Even if Vick had never had any legal problems, I wouldn’t want him on the Eagles. He just never was nor would be a good QB, no matter how many yards he could run for.
