Five teams chasing Vick?

Former Bucs and Colts coach Tony Dungy dropped a strong hint regarding the future of quarterback Mike Vick during NBC’s Sunday night broadcast of the Hall of Fame game on NBC. (Did we mention it was on NBC?)

Of Vick’s prospects to land with an NFL team, Dungy told Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth, “I think something may happen here pretty shortly.”

Dungy also said that Vick has spoken with “several” teams.

Per a league source, the unofficial number is five.

And while it’s still easier to get Jay Glazer to dunk a basketball than it is to get anyone with knowledge of the interested teams to identify their names, we consistently have heard that some of the teams that have publicly said “no” are privately pursuing Vick.

As we see it, if a team that’s on the record as not being interested eventually signs Vick, the waffling will be the least of the franchise’s potential P.R. concerns.
