Jon Runyan gets clearance to run

Tackle Jon Runyan, a grizzled veteran who has started every game the Eagles have played since 2000, has received clearance to run on his surgically-repaired knee, according to Sal Paolantonio of ESPN.

"I'm cleared to do everything, except hit people," Runyan told Paolantonio.  "And I'll be able to do that in about two weeks."

Eagles coach Andy Reid recently left the door open for a potential Runyan return.  The fact that the chronically injured Shawn Andrews has moved from right guard to right tackle could make that door swing a little wider.

Good to see Jon Runyan return from injury and begin his running...

Truly inspiring... not unlike the the touching and inspiring story of world class running man and three time Olympic Gold meadaist Bob Lamonta as told in the Oscer nominated story "Why Me? The Bob Lamonta Story"

i love runyan, wouldn't mind seeing him here because that man is the toughest person to ever walk this planet, but i dont see it happening. plain and simple, shawn andrews doesn't like training camp, and i think he'll be ready to go for the season, and be great.

Please bring Big Jon back to the Birds! He's the man, and he can still play... Go Eagles!!!

    He'll be starting

I hope they bring Runyan back. You watch Shawn work (both OTA's and very little in camp) and you see that he has no desire to dominate the way Runyan did. The last thing the Eagles need is an offensive tackle who is afraid/disinterested in getting physical.

I'm glad Runyan is healthy again. I loved his nasty style.

Runyan is a beast. The Eagles have to keep him.
Would suck to lose another veteran leader and his power and talent.

Runyan had a pretty solid year last year and I have a bad feeling about Andrews and his back. There is no doubt that a healthy Andrews would be choice #1A, but Runyan would be #1B.

I think the Birds will work him out and sign him if there is any possibility he can play.

There's no bad feeling abouts andrews, I'm sick of the big sissy. Runyan is 1 of the best and most significant eagles of all time. He needs to b back here

No, BigBlueFan, you worthless peice of &^%$ troll.

If you were actually a Giants fan you'd know that the rivalry between Strahan and Runyan was one of the best in the NFCE. They both acknowledged each other as their toughest competitors, and looked forward to/dreaded facing each other two games a year.
