NFC North training camp one-liners

John Czarnecki of Fox Sports suggests that QB Sage Rosenfels’ failure to “absorb” the Vikings’ offense could keep the door ajar for free agent Brett Favre.

Quarterback Jay Cutler was 22-of-26 passing at the Bears’ recent intrasquad scrimmage.

Lions DT Grady Jackson remains in danger of a four-game suspension for taking StarCaps.

On Tuesday, the Packers celebrated their 90th anniversary as an organization.

The Vikings’ Adrian Peterson is making strides as a passing-down back in his quest to become a complete player.

Contract-year running back Chester Taylor indicated that he’ll give the Vikings a chance to re-sign him before testing free agency in 2010.

Peter King of Sports Ilustrated calls Vikings jack of all trades Percy Harvin a serious candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Sun Times optimistically predicts that injured CB Charles Tillman will return for the Bears’ preseason finale.

Rookie receivers Johnny Knox and Juaquin Iglesias are running with the backup offense at Bears camp.

Incumbent Bears left guard Josh Beekman is holding off $14 million free agent Frank Omiyale in their competition to start.

The Lions have released G Toniu Fonoti and signed wide receiver Billy McMullen.

Lions strong safety Daniel Bullocks has been shut down due to recurring knee problems.

Of newly signed defensive tackle Shaun Smith, Lions coach Jim Schwartz says “Obviously his size fits what we’re looking for.”

Packers placekicker Mason Crosby’s accuracy issues have continued into camp.

“You could make an argument that Brandon Chillar is our most productive linebacker to this point in training camp,”, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Monday.

Second-year tight end Jermichael Finley is trying to put his slow rookie season behind him.

“John Czarnecki of Fox Sports suggests that QB Sage Rosenfels’ failure to “absorb” the Vikings’ offense could keep the door ajar for free agent Brett Favre.”
Weren’t we hearing before that the Vikings’ offense is a “day one install?” But now it’s too complicated for Rosenfels, who’s played in multiple systems for multiple teams, to pick up?
    Which is it?

You god damned right. Eat it purple haters. Eat it.

  3. Habib Thomas says: Aug 11, 2009 7:25 PM

Sage Rosenfels is a joke. I couldnt believe he had the audacity to act as if he was some big time free agent. All he is a third string QB who got really lucky and the fact that he cant absorb the offense is no suprise.

  4. Nathan says: Aug 11, 2009 7:37 PM

PK also called Harvin the fastest man in the NFL despite the fact that Chris Johnson ran an official 40 2/10ths of a second faster.

  5. Nathan says: Aug 11, 2009 7:38 PM

For the record, I do think Harvin is an explosive player and I think he’ll have a season similar to the one DeSean Jackson had last year for the Iggles.

  6. CanadianVikingFan says: Aug 11, 2009 8:13 PM

I still can’t believe the Vikings gave up a 4th for Rosencopter. The guy has been with the team a while now and he still can’t grasp the playbook…
John David Booty should be the 2nd stringer because we know Chilly is going to make Jackson the starter.

  7. Garbanzo says: Aug 11, 2009 8:55 PM

I doubt Harvin will be able to be healthy enough to get any kind of honors. Another mysterious illness will strike him, and the track record of most #1 WRs is working against him. Added to that is a bad QB situation and being bounced between multiple positions just makes me think that King is just trying his usual preyear hype of a certain player.
Cutler being almost perfect in camp isn’t surprising, he’s an almost perfect QB. Not quite Jesus Christ, but maybe he’s the Zarathustra of the NFL.

  8. Nick0722 says: Aug 11, 2009 9:41 PM

I would like to know how this guys knows that Rosenfels has not absorbed the offense? I haven’t heard that anywhere else, and I was at camp everyday since I live in Mankato, Sage looks like the better QB out there. And WTF whoever thinks that John David Booty can be anything more than a 3rd QB is crazy. Have you seen him play in preseason? Terrible against vanilla defenses. Training Camp? terrible in shorts. Booty hasn’t been good since USC. Get off the Booty bandwagon and let Sage have a shot.

  9. atowwn says: Aug 11, 2009 11:36 PM

Nathan your forgetting that the eagles had a quarterback with an arm, theres no way in hell neither sage nor tarvaris will make Harvin look like deSean

  10. goober says: Aug 12, 2009 5:47 AM

How in Gods world could Cutler be almost perfect in camp!!! Wait..I thought we didn’t have any decent WR’s!!! hmm….

  11. jimicos says: Aug 12, 2009 9:49 AM

Peter King also predicted Philadelphia would beat Arizona to go to the Super Bowl last season.

  12. Dewey Axewound says: Aug 12, 2009 10:27 AM

    Typical purple Queen pre-season superhype…
    Riddle me this, horn-blowers:
If King is so on-the-money with his preDick-shuns, how do you account for him ranking the Bears 4th overall (vs. Vikes at 14th, I think it was…?) in his off-season power rankings?
Don’t worry, unlike you clowns, I don’t put any stock in this whimsical prediction shit, especailly from a blowhard toolbag like King.
    But you go, girls.
Meanwhile, Cutler shows ACTUAL skill, not just the “promise” of it…damn near perfection, in fact, and not just in a drill, but an actual scrimmage…
Your herb-turd QB combo couldn’t go 22-26 while eating popcorn.
    So suck on THAT.
    Admit it:
You fear our Pro Bowl pussy. And you envy it.
    And so you should.

    Dewey:
    Cutler 17-20 as a starter.
    Sage 8-4, Tjax 11-9 Combined= 19-13.
An actual scrimmage, you mean where the QB wears a red jersey and they can’t touch them?
    Oh my!! Stop the presses!!
Try having facts to your posts and a point, it makes it much more interesting for the reader.
    Fact: Cutler 17-20

  18. whosthisguy says: Aug 12, 2009 12:31 PM

I have one more one liner…….Chicago secondary gives up 22-26 passing in intra squad scrimmage.

Practice is one thing and many QBs look great in practice. Lets see how he throws off his back with Jared Allen hog tying him. No red jerseys in the real thing.

  20. Dewey Axewound says: Aug 12, 2009 1:37 PM

    Right. We talkin’ practice, man…
    I get that.
Same exact setting that caused all you dumbfcks to get purple helmets about Harvin catching one pass in.
Difference is, Jay’s accuracy/arm strength and connection w/ his receivers is a REALITY that’s happening.
    In camp.
    EVERYDAY.
What Penis King was saying is nothing but SPECUALTION, FANTASY, and FALSE HOPE–Harvin hasn’t done anything except fail a drug test, get dehydrated, hold out and demand more money, and miss the rookie symposium.
You sorry-ass illiterate dupes don’t even know WHO your QB is going to be!!
Hell, all of you are probably STILL grabbing your ankles and waiting on Lord Bratt.
Open up and say “ahh”, losers.
By the way–Jay didn’t finish last season playing thos teams by HIMSELF, did he?
Oh, that’s right–he had the 8th RB of the season and the worst defense in the league playing with him.
It’s alright, though–you guys keep your Cutler-envy in the closet. It’s where most of you are used to hiding anyway, where you can hide your braided pig-tails and horn-blowing from the rest of the world.
    Have fun in L.A., dumbasses.

Fact: Jay Cutler is a 26 year old Pro Bowler, who’s mobile, has a cannon arm, and has already clicked with the rest of the Bears offense.
Fact: You’re rightfully scared. And jealous.
Fact: The Queens were desperate for Favre. Got disappointed as usual.
    Fact: Your coach sucks.
Fact: (98% of) your fans suck. Couldn’t even sell out a HOME playoff game!
Fact: I hope you like L.A., fruitloops.

Can you please find something better to do? And stop saying we’re moving to LA. We’re not.

  27. Dewey Axewound says: Aug 12, 2009 4:58 PM

    whosthis and FAGnerd–never bragged.
Just compared a reality (22-26) to a fantasy (Harvin will be R.O.T.Y. in the Regional Bong-hitting Championship, maybe).
Otherwise, yeah. We’ve needed a QB. So?
    Here’s the key:
Even through all those lowly QBs, never once did we sell out, stoop so low as to have our entire fanbase get all gaga and weak-kneed and moist in the clam like a bunch of schoogirls the very first time Lord Favre (or some other mortal enemy) even deigned to sniff our asses.
Yet your whole fanbase went tittering schoolgirl apesh!t over a GREEN BAY PACKER!
    Who ultimately rebuffed you!!
How’d ya feel now, suckers? Used? Duped?
More stupid than usual? (You should.)
What a bunch of fickle, desperate, spineless traitors.
Open your mouths for the first thing that even RESEMBLES a QB to come along…
How do you even have the audacity to publicly pronounce yourselves as Queens fans? (let alone try to bash Cutler, who you KNOW you’d kill for…)
The shame of it all. The shame.
The fact that you AREN’T ashamed is just a testament to your blind raving delusional idiocy.
Fairybird18–you have nothing worth saying/reading even ONCE, let alone 4 times.
    You want to debate me?
Learn how to submit a comment first, retard.
Or is there something shiny in the room distracting you?
    J.Cannon–
You seem to have a pretty good firsthand understanding of what it’s like to be in that position…!!!
You see, I would have never thought to describe something like that, from the first-person persepcetive.
Only someone speaking from EXPERIENCE would think/know/talk about how/where the forehead would be in relation to another man’s abs. A bit detailed/realistic for *just* a little trash-talk, don’t you think?
(I bet every other hetero male on here–that is, non-Queen fans–gets what I’m saying.)
So…uh, yeah–I think you just revealed something pretty telling about yourself there.
    Yuck.
    Fagnerd–
    Blah blah blah blah.
Do you even think about what you’re writing?
Klink isn’t fit to hold Lovie’s clipboard, and the WORLD knows it.
Lovie has coached the Bears to the second most wins in the NFC (after the Giants) in the past 5 years.
Which means, um, that’s *better* than the Dikes.
Took us to the Superbowl (which is a bit better than 1 division title in the entire past DECADE).
The rest of your crap is just crap. Yep, Bears defense was 20th in the league, by the NFL’s stupid, inane yardage standards. What the hell does that say?
    NOTHING.
Try Aikman’s defensive ratings, dumbass–it’s based on actual, meaningful variables like 3rd down efficiency, red zone, turnovers, etc.
It’s clear you really are just a whistling teapot, a bunch of noise and nonsense and hot air, meaning nothing.
You don’t really the least bit of knowledge. You’re a cheerleader, and nothing more.
Go study up on what the Aikman ratings are, then get back to me.
    Amateur.
I should have known better, from someone who calls people “turd burglars”
(like that’s even remotely funny, creative, or above 5th grade level smack).
You horn-riders never fail to disappoint me–you are always absolutely exactly what I expect:
a bunch of dumb, illiterate, unoriginal blowhards who enjoy getting your strings pulled.
Thanks for letting me have my puppet show.

  29. Beer Cheese Soup says: Aug 12, 2009 5:14 PM

I think what Dewey is trying to say (keyword-TRYING), is that Cutler has a proven record, whereas Harvin has yet to play an NFL game, no matter what Dome-in -the-Dome Childress, Peter King, or any of you diehard (at least until Sept) Viking fans have to say about him. Far be it for me to agree with any god damn drunken Bear fan, but Dewey is right.
Camp is just camp people. You don’t prove shit by playing well against your own defense, especially when that happens to be the overrated Minny secondary. Your teammates are not looking to put a potentially-injuring hit on you. Your division rivals, however.. Ask Peterson if he would rather be hit in a scrimmage by Winfield or run right into Al Harris again, it’s no contest.
In short: Win a few times, let Harvin make a few ACTUAL plays in ACTUAL game situations, then talk.
Nevermind, forgot who I was talking to.. Viking fans aren’t heard from once the season starts. Well, just do whatever it is that you guys do then.. See you in March.

    Nothing is absolute. Except exception.
(And the perennial disappointment of your team).
    You’re welcome. :-)

Your mom told me you tought her what you know while practcing on your boy friend Jay. P.S. she needs more practice. Anyway Assclown what makes you pathetic is that your pu5sy gets wet everytime a Vikings story is posted on PFT and you cant help but post the dumb bullsh!t that you do. (I’m starting to think you have a crush on us). YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE. You call Viking’s fans dumb because we get amped when we read positive news about our team yet as soon as one Cutler post comes up (besides Brian Urlacer calling a spade a spade much as Ragnar, whosthis, Larry, and myself have done with you) you can’t help but start slobin’ on Cutlers nob. Dewey you gotta stop this man. Your inadequacies as a fan, a man, and a human being are showing through more and more. Just know that should you continue I for one will continue to shut you down. I have no problem talking sh!t to Bears fan’s. I did It quite well face to face at the dome before and after the nationally televised Sunday night game in which the Vikings destroyed the Bears 34-14 for the division lead (remember that game? the rest of the country does) so trust me when I say arguing with you and shutting you down is sport for me.

  35. goober says: Aug 13, 2009 5:49 AM

Pretty sure Rex Grossman had a winning record… He must be one of the best QB’s in he league. Kyle Orton too. They had a winning record despite having an “old defence” “no receivers” and “crappy O-line” hmmm. Interesting. The Vikes should have picked up Grossman in the offseason since a winning record is your only criteria for a “good quarterback”

  36. footballrulz says: Aug 14, 2009 5:55 PM
