T.O. misses second practice due to bum toe

After missing a Tuesday morning walk-through, Bills wideout Terrell Owens also missed practice on Tuesday night because of a sprained toe suffered in Sunday night’s Hall of Fame game.

His status is “day-to-day,” according to Bills head coach Dick Jauron.

In a transcript of remarks provided by the team, Jauron explained that it isn’t known how Owens developed the injury.
“He would tell you too that he’s not certain when he did it,” Jauron said.

As to the possibility of surgery, Jauron said, “He’s got a sprained toe and it’s day-to-day, so no, we didn’t discuss that.”  (That would also likely rule out amputation.)

Owens caught two passes for 27 yards in the first drive of the game against the Titans. After the contest, he told reporters, “I felt good. . . . I feel like I’m in great shape.”
(He later tweeted from the team bus that his toe was aching.)

The Bills host the Chicago Bears on Saturday, and it’s not yet known whether the 35-year-old Owens will be able to play (which is sort of the meaning of “day-to-day”).

Bills quarterback Trent Edwards said he wasn’t even aware Owens wasn’t going to be at practice.

“I don’t know how bad he is, Edwards added. “I’m not in any area to comment on that.”

Meanwhile, Jauron acknowledged that he sensed a different vibe at practice without Owens.

“We know what kind of player he is and what kind of player he’s been through his entire career, so when he’s not on the field, you’re aware of when he’s not on the field,” Jauron said.  “So yes, it’s different.”

Somewhere, Wade Phillips is nodding.

    Here comes the diva routine. So a sore toe keeps him out of practice? Wasn’t this the guy that played with a broken leg a few years ago? Bet he is ready for the next game. Let the drama begin!

    @ebr362:
    I think it’s a little different. He played with a broken leg IN THE FREAKING SUPERBOWL. NOT TRAINING CAMP. Why risk further injury?

    Beastie bills,
    Mark my word, Drama! He craves it, he creates it, he simply loves it. He doesn’t care how it will crush your team as long as the spotlight is on him! He did it in SF, he did it in Philly, he did it in Dallas! You think Buffalo is going to make him change? No way, even he said he has two personalities, Terrell off the field and T.O. on it, why do you suppose that is?
