AFC East training camp one-liners

Bills coach Dick Jauron professed himself pleased with the way the Bills’ no-huddle offense performed on Sunday night.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said that he’s happy with the progress shown by QB Chad Henne.

Said Patriots QB Tom Brady on playing Thursday, “I hope so. We haven’t talked about it, but [coach Bill Belichick] told the guys ‘everybody needs to be ready to play.’  So I’m expecting to play.”

With his father in attendance, Jets QB Mark Sanchez had a strong day of practice.

The Bills re-signed DB Antwain Spann and signed OL Christian Gaddis after they placed DE Jermaine McGhee and C Marvin Philip on the waived/injured list.

Bills T Brad Butler returned to practice and showed no ill effects from last week’s lower back injury.

After watching T Demetrius Bell fill in for Butler during Sunday’s game with the Titans, the Bills feel they might have uncovered a diamond in the rough in the seventh round of the 2008 draft.

The Dolphins signed former Jets FB Joe Kowalewski to take the roster spot of FB Matt Quillen, who quit the team.

Davone Bess is listed ahead of Greg Camarillo at receiver on the Dolphins’ first depth chart, although coach Tony Sparano says it isn’t meaningful.

Donald Thomas took the majority of snaps at right guard with the Dolphins’ first-team offense.

Do the Patriots’ visits with free agent defensive linemen indicate that the team will be playing more 4-3 fronts this season?

LS Jake Ingram is hoping no one pays any attention to him during the Patriots’ preseason opener with the Eagles.

The Patriots players got the night off after rookie T Sebastian Vollmer caught a punt from Chris Hanson at the end of practice.

Third-string Jets QB Erik Ainge will probably take more snaps than either Kellen Clemens or Mark Sanchez in the Jets’ preseason opener.

DT Kris Jenkins, C Nick Mangold, and CB Darrelle Revis will all sit out when the Jets face the Rams on Friday night.

Said Jets coach Rex Ryan of Friday night, “It will be the first time I’m on the sideline as a head coach.  I’ll get more TV time.  I’ll shave and all, I know that.”
