Brandon Marshall has found himself in a few surprising places this week: second on the depth chart, and Orlando, where he watched a practice of the University of Central Florida football team.
Marshall was excused for Denver’s training camp, where he hasn’t been practicing, so he could deal with his trial for a misdemeanor battery charge, scheduled for Thursday in Atlanta.
The trial looks very likely to happen, because the Denver Post reports there have been no discussions about a possible plea arrangement or settlement.
The trial has huge consequences for Marshall’s future.
The Post believes Marshall could face a “long suspension” from the NFL if found guilty, which would in turn hurt Marshall’s market value entering a contract year.
Hasn’t he already been suspended for this incident? Goodell may give further sanctions if he’s found guilty, but I doubt it will be anything of great significance because the fact that he already punished Marshall once means Marshall has already owned up to the commish and the commish decided what the punishment was that fit the crime.
Marshall had his suspension reduced from three games to one last year.
