Chargers linebacker Shaun Phillips had a rough April, accused of punching security guards in separate incidents at San Diego clubs.
Phillips was cited for misdemeanor battery for the second incident, but the San Diego city attorney’s office said Wednesday that Phillips won’t be charged in the case because of a lack of evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Phillips, signed through 2012 in San Diego, now appears likely to avoid league punishment since the case has been dropped.
With first-rounder Larry English on board and Shawne Merriman ready for the preseason opener, San Diego’s pass-rushing linebacker crew looks much improved from 2008.

I still don’t think this prevents him from being traded if he does not have a monster season. With English in the fold and looking real good in camp, Phillips just might be the odd man out instead of Merriman. With Lights Out gone last season, Phillips looked exposed and ineffective. With three similar incidents already in his past, SP may have worn out his welcome here in BoltLand.

I have always admired your fan base. You have one of the biggest fan counts all across the country, so it does make it easy to take over stadiums. There is never a shortage of season-ticket holders willing to sell Pitt game tickets for big $$$. Always a rabid environment, that’s for sure.

Agreed, I can’t wait for, not only the season opener, but games like the one vs. the Bolts & glad it’s actually in warm weather this year. Not one for making predictions, so as far as I’ll go is to say that it should be an awesome game & I hope it lives up to the talent that will be on the field that night. Also not so unrealistic as to say that the Bolts have no chance, it won’t surprise me if either team wins that game. No need to promise giving praise, it’s more fun to disagree on these boards anyway…btw, I never said Rivers was not good, just that I wouldn’t trade ours for yours & if you feel the same, so be it.
