Nasty green Seahawks jersey still a possibility

In April, images emerged of a nasty radioactive green Seahawks jersey that was poised to serve as an alternative (cue the cash register) game shirt for the team.

But then word emerged that it was an April Fool’s prank.

But maybe it wasn’t.

Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times writes that “it’s still possible the Seahawks will wear a bright green alternative jersey at some point.”

Receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who has gone from largely anonymous to primarily insufferable in a matter of months, would be fine with that.

“I haven’t really seen a [green] jersey,” Houshmandzadeh said, “but if
you got style, then you can rock anything. I think I got style, so I’m
going to be just fine.”

He probably was kidding.  Even if he was, we think the equipment guy in Seattle should replace the first “H” on that green jersey (and the other two) with a “D”.

why all the hatin’ on TJ?
But to be fair, I’d rather see the Seahawks wear the classic throwback unis than the flourescent green jerseys.

Anyone else think that T.J. has gotten a little mouthy ever since he became a free agent and then signed with Seattle?

Assuming the quote is correct, there was absolutely nothing in what Houshmandzadeh said that was obnoxious at all. It was a positive remark, and fun.

You might be onto something Florio. You have given birth to the greatest nickname in Seahawks history:
    TJ Doushmandzadeh

  5. Bart says: Aug 13, 2009 9:03 AM

As a Seahawks fan…. NO! That green jersey is hideous

  6. killachap says: Aug 13, 2009 9:16 AM

Since someone actually admitted to being a Seahawks fan then I say they should get what they want!

  7. DougW says: Aug 13, 2009 9:22 AM

Nothing is going to be worse than the horrible teal that they sport now.

  8. Yak says: Aug 13, 2009 9:22 AM

Those green jersey’s can’t be any worse then the green stuff I am coughing up in the morning right now!!!

  9. BleedGreen says: Aug 13, 2009 9:22 AM

I kind of like that green jersey to be honest.

  10. Kevin from Philly says: Aug 13, 2009 9:26 AM

It’s not that he’s so mouthy now (compared to Ocho, T.O. and the rest of the NFL divas), as much as the fact that he never said ANYTHING before last year.

  11. RPToro says: Aug 13, 2009 9:33 AM

Ummmm… why replace the 1st D and the other two? That would make is name:
    TJ Dousdmandzaded
    I don’t get it.

  12. Staff Sergeant Bandazewski says: Aug 13, 2009 9:34 AM

They look those lame UFL jerseys for the might California Redwoods (TIIIIMMMMMBBBBEEERRRR!)

hideous jerseys are noticeable and will stir up a bunch of shit. people will be talking about them.
    publicity = good.
as far as “Doushmandzadeh”, great job catering to your 15-year-old readers, Florio.
it’s nearly impossible to use the word “douche” and be clever, just so you know. oh wait, wait, i’ve got a good one.
“why u hatin on Doush, Whorio? u suk and dont deserve 2 b were u at. Media Mule Whorio”
har har freakin hilarious isn’t it? see how much of a dick you look like when you act clever? i usually dig your sarcasm Iron Mike but that was some rather 5th grade shit.
it’s early though, so i guess i’ll cut you some slack.

  14. killachap says: Aug 13, 2009 9:56 AM

I thought it was fitting and good to go with the douche…..

  15. Yak says: Aug 13, 2009 10:01 AM

    At RPToro:
The other 2 would be the other 2 Jersey’s. That is why it came after the word Jersey and not his name!!

  16. mr_snrub says: Aug 13, 2009 10:05 AM

Dousdmandzaded? I don’t get it either.
I also don’t get all the T.J. hate. Players apparently should not say anything at all these days less they want to wind up on the PFT blacklist.

He meant Replace the first “H” on the other two JERSEYS (white and blue)! I scratched my head over that comment, too.

Whenever I see his name I immediately think of the old FF commercial with the guy trying to draft, “T.J. Hoosh-your-mama”
    Replacing that H with a D… Eeeww…

YouTube has failed me, but SeinfeldScripts.com has not:
Elaine: (Showing fingernails) Toxic waste green.
    Jerry: That is disgusting.
Elaine: You know, revulsion has now become a valid form of attraction.
Jerry: Well, then you’re drivin’ me wild.

  21. Gibbon says: Aug 13, 2009 11:10 AM

    @baloneyn9
No one here thinks that, least of all Florio.
“Receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who has gone from largely anonymous to primarily insufferable in a matter of months…”
    Sheesh.

Yea, I always think of that NFL Network spot too. And you know what the last word of that commercial was, right?…..CHAMPIONSHIP!
This is the year of the Seahawks boys, green jersey or not. You heard it here first!

All you do is hate on Seattle… And now TJ…
Yes he`s made some bold statements… but this one inparticular is having fun… There is aboslutely nothing wrong with that comment…
Housh brings Swagger, Success, and Confidence to a recieving corps that needed all three…. Everyone will benefit from Tj… you’ll swallow this article…
    GO SEAHAWKS!!!

  25. SAN DIEGO HAWK says: Aug 13, 2009 3:39 PM

Florio………wtf. TJ’s comments about a jersey color are worth writing about on your website? Do you ever write about real football news? No wonder you worked at ESPN for only a week. You peddle gossip and rumor in the NFL.Tabloid sleez.
Florio’s mighty in front of his PC, I wonder how his demeanor would be standing in front of the athletes he cracks on.
    What a jerk.
