Sulak resurfaces in Green Bay

After the Raiders cut sixth-round pick Stryker Sulak before ever signing him to a contract, a couple of teams kicked his tires, but no one signed him.

And now Sulak has finally resurfaced, as a member of the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers have announced that Sulak, drafted by the Raiders as a defensive end, has joined the team.  He will play linebacker in Green Bay’s new 3-4 defense.

To create a spot for Sulak, the Packers placed tight end Tory Humphrey on injured reserve.

Stryker? Shirley you can’t be serious.

“As a senior at Missouri in 2008, Sulak (pronounced SHOE-lock) made 55 tackles, including 15½ tackles for loss and 10½ sacks, and led the NCAA with six forced fumbles.”
The kid has bona fides. It’s kind of shocking the Raiders cut him so fast. It’s like the Packers got an extra draft pick.

Reporter as practice observer today; “Sulak is a load at 6-5, 251. He’s still figuring out what he’s supposed to be doing but he just bent Devin Frischknecht in half.”
That and every outside linebacker on the team other than Kampman comes up lame every practice.

I’m thinking they want him around to say “Boy do we(the packers) suck this year.”
And the inevitable response would be ,
    NO SHIT, SHOE-LOCK!(sulak)

You do realize you’re as big a troll as those you accuse, right? You can never bitch, whine, complain or otherwise speak against anyone posting anti-vikings comments ever again.

Get off your moral high horse , hypocrite.
You actually think I answer to you and your ” standards” of posting ettiquette?
Get real, I’ve come to find out that this is what this site is all about.
If I want to have an actual intelligent debate on a topic, I’ll go to Sporting news.
It was a funny joke and I didn’t actually attack anyone, so, save your lecture “Dad”.

This guy’s name is Stryker Sulak? Really? Was he born on the planet Nebutron with Luke Skywalker? I thought McLardy was just raving about his deep front seven?

Another unoriginal jag-off that has to have homsexual slants to thier post.
I thought Dewey Axewound had that market cornered?
I guess there is just an inordinate amount of gay members to this site.( not that there is anything wrong with that.) (it’s ok whysoserious)

Aww, what’s the matter. Can’t handle when people call you out for what you are? And you call me a hypocrite!
Sure, I make comments on Vikings posts, but i’m not the one whining and labeling people as trolls every time they come out with something against my team that I don’t like.
    Just saying.

Good luck kid. IF you make the squad, remember to thank Uncle Al, and Coach Cable for cutting you early enough for you to get a look elsewhere.

  17. RagnartheViking says: Aug 13, 2009 3:46 PM

I called a few pepole trolls ONE time.
Get over it, that’s what they were, and they were not attacking the team, they were attacking the fanbase. HUGE difference.
On your way Sparta, nothing more for you to say here.

  18. DCViking says: Aug 13, 2009 3:48 PM

Other than Al’s senility, was there a reason this guy was cut in Oakland?
I’m surprised it’s taken this long for anyone to pick him up unless I’m missing a problem from Oaktown…

  19. Bob Nelson says: Aug 13, 2009 4:27 PM

He won’t even make the practice squad.
Their 7th round LB pick won’t make the practice squad.
Ted Thompson always does this. Churns the bottom few roster spots bringing in guys for a tryout.
Some of you excitable types think this rookie might be more than 11th on the Linebacker depth chart.

  21. Beer Cheese Soup says: Aug 13, 2009 4:52 PM

Ragnar, what are you doing here? This isn’t a Vikings thread.. For all the whining we hear from you every time we’re hating on your joke of a team, you shouldn’t be here at all.. Hypocrite.
Also, every team in the North improved this offseason, save your Vikings.. they lost an All-Pro center and safety, and gained… a backup QB. I wouldn’t be saying the Packers are going to suck worse than you with that in mind. Can’t wait for you guys to disappear when you see this also isn’t your year, not that you’ve ever in team history even HAD ‘a year’. See you in March when the next round of Viking Super Bowl predictions begin.
As for you RaiderLifer, if Sulak does make it, we can add him to the ever-growing list of coaches/players Crazy Al had but didn’t know what he had. I don’t blame TT for having a look-see though, dude was a beast in college.

  22. Koition says: Aug 13, 2009 5:32 PM

    Reason…!?
Maybe it couldn’t be for any other reason then every OLB on the roster save for Kampman is hurt and they just need some warm bodies for the game Saturday…?!

  23. jimicos says: Aug 13, 2009 7:01 PM

If healed injuries are a basis for improvement, then Cullen Jenkins, Ryan Grant and Atari Bigby might have something to say about the Packers improving. Hell, even their defensive MVP played the whole year with an injury.
But they aren’t Vikings, so they couldn’t possibly count… Right?

  24. Koition says: Aug 13, 2009 7:33 PM

Hell, add Chad Clifton, Al Harris (4 games), James Jones, and Nick Barnett to that list jimicos…
The Packers didn’t need as much personnel as they needed an aggressive defensive scheme. This defense, healthy, and barely knowing the scheme will be much improved and more aggressive than in years past. They will be blitzing from everywhere. If Raji is half the player he was in college and Matthews is as good as he’s been in camp, this team is going to suprise…

  25. Beer Cheese Soup says: Aug 13, 2009 11:21 PM

Wow Ragnar, seems I hit a nerve. Where to begin: Getting guys back from injury does not constitute improving, and Madieu Williams sucks. Just another guy you all overpaid ridiculously for.
Don’t call me out for smack talk. Stinking it up the previous year has NEVER stopped you guys’ annual Super Bowl predictions, and last year doesn’t matter, that’s “history” right? Talk about the present-day team, right?
There’s a simple reason we bring up our team’s history: WE HAVE ONE. I don’t blame you at for not wanting to remember any of your team’s pathetic history though.. Seems painful.

  26. RagnartheViking says: Aug 14, 2009 9:13 AM

Not painful at all Dr. Freud.
I don’t count on my favorite sports teams to determine my mood, nor do I live vicariously through them.
My big problem with Packer fans is this:
If your team is doing good, you are unbearable to listen to, biggest blowhards on the planet.
When your team is bad, like last year, you can’t just say, yep, 6-10, we were bad.
Nope, it’s gotta be , oh , we had so many injuries, the refs screwed us, there was a car comingthat game doesn’t count, or some other such nonsense. Add to the fact you also can’t just say we sucked, you have to throw out the “history” card.
Why is that? I seriously want to know. Every team has bad seasons, why cant your fan base just accept that? Christ your team had like 27 years in a row of bad teams, yet there you all were(or your parents) talking smack.
It’s ridiculos that you cling to trophy’s from over 40 yers ago. Great, your franchise was a beast in the 60′s. What now?
Nope the Vikes haven’t won a Super bowl, they have had some pretty decent teams though.
Not ashamed of thier history 1 bit.
Also, show me where i have ever said the Vikes are going to the bowl this year. I’ll save you the time, I haven’t.
Last year is relevant to this year, at least way more relevant than 1967.
I’m pretty sure getting players back from injury does constitute improvement, If you don’t think adding back a starting middle linebacker doesn’t improve our defense, you are more befuddled than I thought.
Yep anyFA the Vikes pick up is garbage, typical Packer fan response.
Keep drinking the Teddy Teabag kool-aid.

  27. Beer Cheese Soup says: Aug 14, 2009 10:15 AM

    Ragnar-
You may be the stereotypical Viking fan, but that don’t mean I fit your profile of a typical Pack fan. Bob Nelson gives us all a bad name. Don’t group me in with him. I don’t make excuses, I don’t talk about how good rookies are going to be (cough,Harvin) when they’ve yet to play a down, and I don’t complain about refs unless the Steelers are playing. 6-10 is not good, I admit that. Does leave room for improvement though.
However, I damn sure do live vicariously through my team. Most of us do, we call that being fans. It’s how we manage to have the most loyal, diehard fanbase in the country, and it shows when we actually sell out our home playoff games. You guys don’t know much about that one either though.
As for FAs: Allen seemed to work out pretty well for you, so has your extensive collection of ex-Packers, except Ferguson. I admit that. Berrian, Hutchinson, Madieu.. Not so much, and when, as I said, your only real FA pickup this offseason was a backup QB, and you lost two Pro Bowlers, I wouldn’t expect to do as well this year.
However, If getting a starting MLB back from injury is the benchmark for improvement, you’re doing pretty well. By that rationale though, so are we. So our teams should be even right? Idiot.
You may not have personally mentioned going to the Bowl-(I don’t know, all you Viking fans say the same shit, I can’t really keep track), but you did say in this thread that the Packers were going to suck, and then got the horns on your purple panties stuck in your ass when I said your team wasn’t going to be that good either. If you can’t take it, don’t come in Packer threads just to dish it out.
Also, TT can go to hell twice, and I drink beer, not kool-aid thanks. Keep the stereotypes and the smack talk coming while you can though. The middle of the season where all Vike fans disappear is coming up pretty fast.

  28. RagnartheViking says: Aug 14, 2009 3:50 PM

    Not disappearing Beer.
By living vicariously, I mean it doesn’t affect my whole out look on life.
When I was a kid, i was pissed until the following sunday if the Vikes lost.
    Then I grew up.
Yeah, I don’t like when the Vikes lose, but there are other WAY more important thing to worry about in life.
That doesn’t make me any lees of a fan then you.
It just means my priorities are in order.
As for the ex-Packers, hey if you want to let pro bowl caliber players get away, who am I to turn that down.
At least Longwell now how to nail a game winning kick (cough, crosby).
    Madieu= injured 1/2 the year.
Berrian 900 some yards on a run dominant team.
    Hutchinson= Pro bowler
Nah, they didn’t work out at all.
As for Harvin, I have said he has the POTENTIAL to open up that offense.
    Don’t stereotype me either.
Yes, getting EJ back is huge. Why?
Because the MLB is the quarterback of the defense. You have to at least understand that.
I don’t put anything in my ass. Toilet paper on it, but no, nothing in it, although there was that 1 time my finger ripped through the toilet paper…
But, that’s a story for another day.
Once again, I’ll be here all year, I don’t disappear. I’ll eat crow if I have to, just don’t forsee that happening.
This site is a haven for smack talk in case you haven’t noticed, so I won’t get my panties in a bunch(sorry no underwear for rhis guy–commando) if you don’t get your Packer underoos in a bunch.

  29. OhJay says: Aug 24, 2009 3:31 PM

Yeah, I would have gotten used to losing pretty early on as well if I had been a Vikings fan. Must have been a pretty angry childhood you had.
    Otherwise, get a tradition.
