Vick will return to Atlanta in Week Thirteen

Thirteen is universally recognized as the unluckiest of numbers.

In Week Thirteen of the 2009 season, fans in Atlanta who still have an affinity for Mike Vick will be feeling anything but unlucky.

On December 6, Vick and the Eagles will head to the Georgia Dome for a game that’s currently due to begin at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Our first thought was that NBC would flex the game to prime time.  However, FOX has the ability to protect a certain number of games from being moved to 8:20 p.m. ET, and FOX undoubtedly will keep Eagles-Falcons.

That said, the league might move it to 4:15 p.m. ET, since Week Thirteen is a FOX doubleheader weekend.  To make that work, however, the league might have to move Cowboys-Giants to 1:00 p.m. — or to allow it to possibly be flexed to NBC in place of Pats-Fins.

Think Vick will make it to 13? If he does would they suit him up for this game? Falcons lost a lot with his crime, but game just sold out too I bet.

Love Jaws, but his initial response on ESPN tonight when they announced the Vick signing was negative. “Donovan McNabb is not going to be a happy camper when he gets this news.”
Why the rush to judgement in the media? Why can’t they let things play out and refrain from attempting to creat controversy? Lame.

I’m sure nothing bad is going to happen. I mean, it is the “dirty south”. Just a bunch of ignorant, low income, racists that live there (black and white, asian, mexic….) all of them. What has Craplanta provided to the advance of civilization in history? Cotton Candy? Cotton Mouth? Rap music? Definately not rap. Pac has that rapped up (pun intended) and so does Eazy, Dre, Too Short, etc… The dirty south is a waste of tax payers dollars. Look what they did to the Superdome! Smelly bastards.

Don’t count on the game being moved. The Eagles are scheduled to play the Giants the next week on NBC. I don’t think the NFL plays the same team 2 weeks in a row on the over the air, prime time game.
NBC surely does not want to lose Eagles-Giants

  7. FumbleNuts says: Aug 14, 2009 12:06 AM

Vick should be the starting QB by then.

  8. famucancer says: Aug 14, 2009 12:06 AM

That game just sold out – so that makes at least ONE home Falcons game that will! The Falcons still have about 15,000 choice seats for their other home games!

This has to be the first time in NFL history that a fan base believed the acquisition of a backup quarterback was going to be missing piece of their Super Bowl puzzle.

  15. smalfish says: Aug 14, 2009 1:10 AM

Vick is the ultimate spare. But, where do the Eagles plan to play him? Quarterback? Bwhahhahahaha! As Cowboys fan, I most certainly hope they do. Vick hasn’t played in over two years, and before that he had proved to everyone he was a nothing kind of QB. All he had was his legs and a lousy aim. What’s changed for him is his legs! Likely a bit more bow legged by now.
Eagles = Epic Fail! I hope they get bit by the ghosts of Vick’s dogs.

  19. mikeysoundtrack says: Aug 14, 2009 2:30 AM

Vick’s future is really going to lie with the eagles coaching staff. In Atlanta, Vick was in a “run as a second option” (2nd only to the primary receiver) offense. Mike is going to need to learn to read the defense and use the run as a last-resort option if he wants to be viable for a starting job in 2010 (the same as Donovan learned in 2001).
I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy used him in the wildcat in the preseason and then let Vick air the ball up in a 3rd and 6ish situation in the reg season that makes the defense respect the run.
If he lives up to expectations, I see Vick staring for a cellar team (i.e. Saint Louis or TB) next season.
Or just going back to jail.

I’m just loving this. All those Eagles fans who talk trash about the Cowboys as a “thug” team, uh, yeah, what do you have to say now that your team signed a guy who was in the federal pen for two years? Yeah, you hate thugs when they play for another team, but love them when you think they’ll help you win a game or two.

I’ve met intelligent and kind people in many of the southern states that I have visited and you just degraded all of them. You are shouting west coast but I’m pretty damn sure you don’t represent those living on the west coast and I won’t degrade them based on an anus like yourself. Grow up and get a life!!!! I’ll be getting my popcorn ready for this one… If PETA or other NFL players haven’t ripped his legs off. I mean, I don’t have anything against him (he did his time and they weren’t my dogs) but that doesn’t mean that a lot of others don’t. I believe someone is going to hit him pretty good this season.

  27. atlantafalCANS says: Aug 14, 2009 6:48 AM

I find all this Eagles Super Bowl talk quite amusing. Vick will not make a significant enough impact for that…by the way either Vick is going to be pissed he is not “The Man” like he was in Atlanta, or Mcnabb will be pissed when Vick becomes the starter. Don’t forget that I am quite sure Vick isn’t even close to football shape and putting him in the final 2 preseason games is dumb…he’ll get eaten alive!!

  28. killachap says: Aug 14, 2009 6:53 AM

At least these Vick stories are relevant, Florio and company, don’t listen to these clowns complaining about the number of Vick stories. They are interesting and all insights are a good read. Even that idito “mastershake” (however I think he makes a point to some degree, but certainly not as generalized as it sounds)

  29. gopher says: Aug 14, 2009 8:03 AM

My gripe regarding Vick comes from NFL players and coaches and ex coaches like Dungy who claim Vick made a mistake and has paid for it. I believe a mistake is a one time thing like drunk driving and Vick had a business of dog fighting for sometime and making a profit from it, that is not a mistake that is stupid. Good Luck Eagles.

  30. Coughlins Happy Pills says: Aug 14, 2009 8:11 AM

I hope they move Boys-Giants to 1:00, I don’t want to stay up to 11:30 when I have to work the next day at 6am. F-That.

  31. Triumph40 says: Aug 14, 2009 8:22 AM

What happened Florio? Yesterday, you had Vick going to the Bills for certain. Over the past month, you probably had him going to every one of the 30 teams. At least now we don’t have to constantly hear about Vick on here and ESPN. I’m just glad the thug and convicted felon didn’t sign with my team.

  32. Pastabelly says: Aug 14, 2009 8:26 AM

First – This move may more relate to McNabb always seeming get injured.
Second – Nobody will give a crap about that game unless Vick is actually the quarterback.
Third – For that game to bump Tom Brady, not only will Vick have to be the starting quarterback, but either the Patriots or Dolphins will have to be struggling.
Fourth – That’s where the Eagles will wind up in the division.

    MasterShake:
Go F..k yourself, you ignorant POS!
I was born in Atlanta and have lived in other parts of the South. I also am educated, have a degree and I can guarantee you that I have a higher income than you will ever be able to attain.
For you to make such outrageous remarks about a region of this country (that you probably have never even visited), just shows how stupid you really are.
Why don’t you do a little research and educate yourself of the contributions that the South has made to society. They are numerous.
Southern states are some of the most desirable locations to live in today, attested to by the huge droves of transplanted Yankees and mid westerners that are driving up the popoulations.
Atlanta is a huge metropolitan city with some of the best, restaraunts, entertainment and cultural diversity of any city in this country. Not to mention a huge, thriving music scene, the home of Delta Airlines, Coca Cola, the busiest airport in the world and the largest aquarium in the country.
You say that you’re from the west coast. I have spent time in San Diego (relatives there) as well as other parts of Cali and I am here to tell you, besides the great weather and climate, Atlanta has ten times more to offer as a city and the south as a region.
And for you to bring up racism makes my blood boil. Why is that the first thing that comes out of everone’s mouths when you mention the south? if you spend any time in today’s southern cities, you would find that most people are very tolerant of people of all ethnicities. By comparison, I have lived in Boston the past four years and have encountered more racism here than I ever did during my adult life in Atlanta, GA.
Besides that, the Chargers, Forty Niners and Raiders BLOW!
    Go Falcons!

  38. Dangerous Person says: Aug 14, 2009 9:57 AM

    Mastershake….
That was a little rough…as well as un-true.
The South is responsible for many great and wonderful things. Just to name a few….
Sweet Tea, the Laser, hospitality, SEC Football, Southern Women , Tennessee Whiskey, Mark Twain (born in MO but is definitely a southern writer) , Faulkner, Disney World, Shrimp and grits, Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, The French Quarter, Vanna White, Soul Food, Cajun Food, Wal Mart!, 300 uses of the peanut, mayonnaise, linoleum, human flight, Hank Williams, Girl Scouts, Red Barber, Brett Favre (what would PFT do without Favre), NASCAR, The personal computer, the process on how to put out oil well fires, Mary Kay, artificial heart implant surgery, DRAM (memory in your computer), Chuck Yeager, and buttermilk FREAKIN Biscuits!
    So take it back.
Good for Mike Vick. I hope he get his stuff straight and can serve as a prime example of why it is good to live in America.

Naah, he’ll probably just go look at the trophy case and realize that it must be some other team’s turn.

A: They all have all-time losing records, and none of them have ever won a Super Bowl.

That’s pretty awesome! You neglected to reflect on the “dirty” part of the south. Also, maybe you’ve never seen a map. San Diego doesn’t exactly represent the west coast jackass. You have a higher income? How do you know? Don’t you know that the root of all evil is money? The Yanks that you speak about only move there because they can’t make it in the real world and have to live with the lower half of society. It’s an easy out for them. MasterShake (more like MasterBater)
I did’nt reflect on the “dirty” part of the south because that term was coined by the thug rappers that came from the inner cities and was also picked upon by rappers from other regions so it is not an accurate refelection of the south as a whole.
I am quite aware that San Diego does’nt represent the west coast and I have spent time in other west coast cities, eg..Portland and Seattle. I have a map, the one that your mother used when she traveled to visit me. (By the way, she left it on my nightstand along with her dentures that I made her remove before polishing the ole’ knob. Tell her I’ll mail them to her)
As far as having a higher income, after reading your first post, I am pretty sure that your biggest accomplishment in life is acheiving an Employee of the Month plaque at McDonald’s.
I will not respond to another of your ignorant, dumbsh.t post so go cuddle on the couch with your boyfriend until it’s time for your shift at Mickey D’s.
