AFC West training camp one-liners

Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell didn’t show much chemistry with rookie WR Darrius Heyward-Bey in Thursday night’s preseason opener.

Chris Johnson will win the Raiders’ starting left CB job, according to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Raiders worked out free agent LB Morlon Greenwood on Friday.

Andy Behrens of Yahoo! Sports calls Raiders WR Chaz Schilens a sleeper in fantasy football.

The Chiefs tried out free-agent WR Ashley Lelie.

They also brought back LS Thomas Gafford, and waived undrafted rookie Tanner Purdum.

Chiefs first-year head coach Todd Haley has literally never stepped foot in Arrowhead Stadium, and won’t until Saturday night.

Backup QB Tyler Thigpen is listed behind both Matt Cassel and Brodie Croyle on Haley’s depth chart.

Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson is 85 percent certain he’ll get to play in the preseason this year.

However, coach Norv Turner remains undecided about risking the 30-year-old runner.

Fans at the Bolts’ preseason opener are subject to ejection for several reasons, including “excessive consumption of alcohol.”

The Chargers are hopeful that new LB Kevin Burnett improves the team’s pass coverage against tight ends.

Broncos WR Brandon Marshall is off the hook for misdemeanor battery, but he’s still hardly practiced with his new quarterback, Kyle Orton.

Broncos RB LaMont Jordan revealed that he’s dropped 30 pounds since last season.

Backup CB Jack Williams has a good shot at an increased role in Denver’s defense.

It remains to be seen whether versatile Peyton Hills is used as more of a blocker or ball carrier in Broncos coach Josh McDaniels’ offense.

    Hilarious.
    The Raiders win, 31-10.
    Schilens plays like a monster.
    McFadden runs wild.
JaMarcus basically matches Romo’s passing numbers plus breaks off an 18-yard run and looks pretty damn good.
    All three QBs look sharp.
Michael Bush looks to be a force.
Something like 15 different players catch a pass.
And your headline summing up the game: “JaMarcus Russell didn’t show much chemistry with rookie receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey in Thursday night’s preseason opener”
Translation: The Raiders’ QB is the king of bustville and DHB is its new prince.
Why does PFT hate on the Raiders so much?

Mike, leave good enough alone. It sucks to access this site using my mobile phone, please put it back for us who are too lazy to get out our laptops and prefer our using our phones to access this info.

Gotta love how the media only finds the bad within the good, when it comes to the Raiders, and this time they dug deep to make it up.
J-Russ shows a lack of chemistry with DHB?
Give me a break. He threw to him deep, while he was double covered. Two times!
Three balls go DHB’s way, and this is enough to make such a claim?
Instead of reaching for nothing, why not point out that Russell needs to look off his wide outs, and not try to force things with DHB so soon? The sports media has become increasingly pathetic each and every year.

While it continues to be a tight race between Rosenthal and Silva, it appears that Silva is going to come out ahead in the competition for the most biased reporting… err make that interpretation of actual reporting. You are a complete hack that loves to throw out one liners with a negative slant against teams you obviously don’t like.
I’ll leave it to you to figure out but read a couple of the articles he refrences and I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out.
Maybe if Silva or Rosenthal tried venturing west of the Mississippi they might figure out that there are some good things going on. Until then keep your fingers off the keyboard about anything pertaining to things out west.
This site continues to go downhill since the addition of the trained monkeys from NBC.

Its Peyton HILLIS…I’m so effing sick of you so-called football journalists miss-spelling players’ names…I don’t care how miniscule a point I make, it is what it is, get it right Silva and Alper..I really hate the thought of me doing a better job at your job than you…Be PROS

Number one, DHB was used as a decoy to stretch the field last night. The good ground numbers in the first half reflect that.
Second DHB has been in camp for about a month now you might want to give him a chance to create some chemistry.
See Steve Young and Jerry Rice. Took them more than a month to get “Chemistry” I think they finally got it.
Third, how stupid of a person are you? Who comes up with these far fetched, manufactured headlines How the hell do you even have a job?
Evan Silva I wouldn’t hire you to write my 7th grader’s essay, you are pathetic!

If the Bills are still looking for a backup QB and Tyler Thigpen is being listed as the 3rd QB in KC, maybe the Bills should see what it would take to get him

    Evan Saliva = Fail
LOL! You crack me up sir. I get it… either you hate the Raiders or you enjoy tweaking the fans; I’m guessing it’s more the latter. You gotta admit it’s funny though, JaMarcus comes out and finds instant synergy with a 6’4″ 7th rounder from last year’s draft – who runs a 4.38 forty – and your headline is about how Russell didn’t have instant synergy with DHB.
Do you follow the football teams you cover much? Guessing the answer is no.

I was happy that KC went with Cassel for two reasons:
He gobbled up so much of their payroll that the signing will set them back a few years
    and
Tyler Thigpen was the most effective QB KC had at the end of the year. His scrambling ability alone caused enough problems for KC’s opponents. Did it result in Wins? No, but that certainly wasn’t his fault.
Let’s just hope that they trade him out of the division.

    He was already starting.
