The Vick deal still makes no sense to me. No one knows if he has anything left after two years away. He wasn’t a great QB to begin with, definitely not on the same level as McNabb, who is one of the best in the NFL (even is you base it on how little he actually turns the ball over). The Eagles would have been better served building a team around their QB, instead of spending money on another QB who is essentially an unknown and a lightning rod for controversy.

Below is what Michael Vick said today to 250 kids at a basketball camp. If he thinks this bullshit will “revamp his image”, he is so, so wrong.
***The free agent NFL quarterback, who last month finished a 23-month federal prison sentence for dogfighting, told a crowd of about 250 to “use me as an example for your dreams.” Vick also told them that after accomplishing his goals he “allowed someone who didn’t have my best interests at heart to take all that away from me,” according to a release from the school.***
He doesn’t have any intention of taking responsibility for the torture and abuse that he visited upon innocent dogs.

One can only hope that if Michael Vick performs poorly, he is subjected to the same sanctions he inflicted on his dogs that did not fight well. My fondish wish is that he is slammed to the ground then hung, then electocuted with jumper cables and finally held under water until he stops struggling.

I just saw video on NFL.com of Jeffrey Lourie (CEO and Chairman for the Eagles) and Mike Vick. Jeffrey stated that three people were instrumental in getting him to allow Mike to come to the Eagles, they were Roger Goodell, Tony Dungy and Donovan McNabb. He referenced how Donovan was a personal friend of Mike’s.
When Mike spoke, he thanked Donovan for his support and efforts to get him signed to the Eagles.
I don’t think Donovan McNabb is worried about Mike Vick.

That, and the possibility that both Dallas and the Redskins were interested in Vick, more than justifies the $1.6 mil spent on him. You could argue that Vick spending a year mostly on the sidelines behind a proven QB in a solid program would increase his value to potential suitors, while also proving his worth.
Once the controversy storm dies down (assuming Vick can stay good – be a good boy Vick, that’s a good boy), this might just be of tremendous benefit to the Eagles.
