The primary goal of training camp and the preseason is (or at least should be) to emerge with as many players as possible not injured.
In New York, a key Giants rookie has suffered an injury, and he’s gone for the year.
Running back Andre Brown, a fourth-round pick in the 2009 draft, suffered a ruptured Achilles’ tendon during practice on Friday night.
“I don’t know how it happened,” coach Tom Coughlin said, via a spokesperson for the team (via the Newark Star-Ledger). “Andre was running his route side by side with the
linebacker.”
Brown had been having a solid camp. He was fourth on the depth chart behind Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Danny Ware.

Sympathies from an Eagle fan.
How do you call a RB 4th on the depth chart “a key Giants rookie?” The Giants are deep at RB, its a shame he’s hurt but this is far from a key loss.
hey jerry, give a call to edge, see what he’s up to.
