Brian Westbrook returns to practice

Naturally, star running back Brian Westbrook’s first practice since undergoing offseason ankle surgery was overshadowed by quarterback Michael Vick’s first workout with the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, Westbrook’s anticipated healthy return is a major development for the Eagles given the big role that he traditionally plays in the offensive game plan.

According to Eagles coach Andy Reid, Westbrook will be limited to individual drills initially.

The Eagles are apparently hesitant to insert Westbrook into a preseason game at this point, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“If he could play, that would be great,” Reid said.

Westbrook declined interview requests.

“We’ll do something soon,” Westbrook said. “I’m feeling good.”

I don’t mind if they keep Westbrook fresh. Let’s get McCoy as many snaps as possible.
I might pick Westbrook with the 5th pick of an upcoming draft. I usually don’t like being a “homer” but it’s a PPR league.

How old is Westbrook now? Any chance he’ll stay healthy through the season?

He’ll be 30 on 09/02/09. He’s never had a 16 game season before, doubt he’s gonna start now.

Westbrook doesn’t belong in preseason games. He doesn’t need the practice, and he doesn’t need the punishment. Let the fragile little speedster save it for Carolina.
