Cleo gets a chance in Baltimore

With one of the quarterbacks who contributed to Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron’s 1-15 season in Miami injured, the guy who led the Fins to their only win that year could be getting a shot.

Per Aaron Wilson, who covers the Baltimore beat for the Carroll County Times and whose name might be familiar in these parts, reports that Cleo Lemon worked out for the Ravens after practice on Saturday.

John Beck, the Dolphins’ second-round pick in 2007, suffered a shoulder injury on Thursday night against the Redskins after throwing what ended up being a 64-yard completion to receiver Jayson Foster.

Per Wilson, an MRI revealed no tear in Beck’s shoulder, but he’s out for now.

The Ravens inked Drew Willy to handle practice on Saturday, but Lemon could be added to the team.

Two weeks ago, Lemon got a workout in New England.  The Patriots ultimately signed Andrew Walter.

What the hell does that have to do with the Ravens or Cleo Lemon?

What did syntax ever do to you?

  3. Poor John Beck. Not cool enough for his own post so he gets randomly thrown out of nowhere into a blurb about Cleo Lemon. That’s rough.

  4. Well, BuckFutter, John Beck is now the Ravens 3rd stringer. Since he’s hurt, the Ravens are working out Cleo Lemon.

  5. TFBuckFutter:
John Beck plays for the Ravens and was injured in their preseason game against the redskins. Cleo Lemmon was worked out to possibly replace him while both played for the dolphins last year. Simple.

  6. Ahhh….I see.
I thought he still played for the Dolphins. Perhaps because of the line “John Beck, the Dolphins’ second-round pick in 2007,”…..without the qualifier “who signed this offseason with the Ravens”….Or, you know, just “John Beck who came over to the Ravens after 2 seasons with Miami.”

  7. killachap, I appreciate it.
It’s just, even though Mike wrote the story, he quoted Aaron Wilson, and just about every Aaron Wilson story has some confounding error in it.

  8. TFBuckFutter:
I understand your confusion. I ended up figuring out that John Beck apparently signed with the Ravens, but I was initially confused as well.
Florio seems to assume that everyone knows about every offseason move made by every team, including free agency and the draft. As a result, he doesn’t seem to find it necessary to clarify any details about players’ current situations.
And yes, Aaron Wilson is painfully useless.
