Saints kicker tested positive for Adderall

Saints kicker Garrett Hartley says he didn’t know that Adderall was on the NFL’s banned substance list, a slip-up that could cost Hartley his job.

The league has informed Hartley he will be suspended four games for violating its banned substance policy after Hartley tested positive for the prescription stimulant.

The Saints officially signed John Carney Sunday, who could bogart Hartley’s job in the meantime.

Hartley didn’t have a prescription for the medication, which he says he got from a friend to help keep him awake on a long drive.  (Students at nearby Tulane and colleges everywhere have been popping Adderall like Skittles for more than a decade to help them ward off the dangers of sober studying and boredom.)

In another roster move Sunday, the Saints placed linebacker Mark Simoneau on injured reserve and signed tight end Martrez Milner.  It’s unclear if they will sign Derrick Brooks to help fill the absence left by Simoneau.

why is adderall on the banned substance list? that’s so pointless.

In other news, Jamal Williams and Vincent Jackson didn’t know that drinking and driving was illegal. And Brandon Marshall didn’t know that it was illegal to smack his woman….So they were acquitted. This just in….Heyward-Bey dropped another pass; Crabtree still hasn’t signed (and it’s all Al Davis’ fault); Mike Vick ate wheaties this morning, and Brett Farve could still come back.

marijuana is pointless…adderall at least would give you a heightened sense of awareness…that could be argued to be performance enhancing (although probably not much, if anything)

    Weird,
You would think Janakowski would be involved in this.

Adderall is legal cocaine. My buddy had a scrip for the maximum dosage time release capsules and they were crazy. It was like I took a big line of coke every 30 minutes for 12 hours. Good stuff, but it can’t be good for your heart to do that stuff on a regular basis.
But pot is still illegal. Thanks Big Pharma!

Oh, yeah, it’s Al Davis’ fault Crapgreed isn’t signed.
Davis drafted a player with more size and speed, and he thinks the hands issue can be resolved through hard work (DHB was one of the best “character” guys in the draft). Jerry Rice dropped everything his rookie year and Cliff Branch was a track guy with poor hands who became an almost HOFer. Davis thinks that is something that can be worked on, particularly if the player has a fine work ethic (DHB does). Davis believes DHB is worth a shot and attitudinally, he’s already much greater than Crapgreed.
Crapgreed is 6’1″, not the 6’3″ he was listed at at TT. He’s a 4.6 guy, which makes him more like Mike Williams in terms of speed and separation, and he’s a total jackass with an entourage, as we are seeing already. “I don’t care where I’m drafted; I’m the best player in this draft,” he says through his agent. The 49ers already regret the pick.
DHB is in camp, working hard and aiming higher. Crapgreed is only here for the money, doesn’t give a crap about his team or his teammates, is damaged goods and likely a bust. I think he’s convinced he’d better get his money now, cuz soon enough he’ll be playing for the veteran minimum.

In all honesty I use adderall like crazy around finals time.
Yes I have a perscription, but that’s the only time I use. I can’t believe it’s on the banned substance list.

Really??? A Kicker juicing? Are you kidding me. Wait Todd Saurbron (spelling?) is not impressed. Can’t we just give kickers a waiver on Performance Enhancing drugs??? I mean they have a right to feel like bad asses too?
