Britt impresses in debut

In theory, Titans first-round wideout Kenny Britt should still be getting up to speed.  He missed most of OTAs and the first week of training camp with a hamstring injury.

On the field Saturday, Britt looked like he had been at every practice all offseason.

Britt opened Tennessee’s second preseason game as the team’s third receiver, gaining a first down right away on a throw from Kerry Collins that was behind Britt.

The physical receiver from Rutgers wasn’t on the field in two receiver formations until Vince Young entered the game, and then he really got going.

Britt dismissed Tampa’s press coverage for huge separation, then came back to Young’s long pass for a 38-yard gain before taking a big hit and holding on to the ball.

Britt impressively evaded a tackler for a tough first down on his next catch, and capped his night with a 37-yard touchdown on blown coverage in the third quarter.

You don’t want to get carried away with one preseason performance, but Britt showed off a complete game for a rookie.

“He’s got the ability to make those kinds of plays, not only on the deep one; he made some tough catches over the middle,” Kerry Collins commented.

With the additions of Nate Washington and Britt, it appears the Titans have drastically upgraded their wideout crew this year.

Throw in Smash, Dash, Cash, two All Pro tackles, and a good tight end group and the Titans could be a very difficult group to defend this season.

Damn you and your bait and switch tactics! I was three quarters of the way through the article before I realized that it wasn’t about Brett Favre!

Unfortunately, they are missing something big on the other side of the ball…..

It’s funny that most people forget that Haynesworth was out with injury a couple of weeks last season, including the game that the Titans beat up the future World Champs.
Am I saying that Haynesworth won’t be missed? Nope.
Am I saying that the Titans defense can continue to dominate without Big Al? Yup.

The defense may not be as strong as last year but the offense should more than make up for it. Granted its only one preseason game, but Britt looked like the real deal… if he’s anything close to as good as he was the other night we’re gonna have a sweet WR corps.

Keep in mind the Buccaneer starters held them to a single field goal. All the accolades for torching the Tampa bay second & third string????

Yep….so Tiger loses to a nobody, and he is a loser?
Lose a game and you don’t deserve to be called the best?
Win a game and now you are the world’s best?
Yinz gotta quit smoking those funny cigarettes.

Heh. Yellow towels remind me more of a Fwenchy Surrender Team than a repeat Super Bowl contender. Bring on Sept. 10, I’m anxious to see the Titans finish up what they started last December. A yellow towel commode stopper, likely.

Britt looked just like the player he was from day one at Rutgers. He even had a great block.
Tennessee is going to be very pleased with Britt. I only wish the Giants would have taken him. I guess we have to hope Nicks is the real deal.
