Cable says "nothing happened"

During halftime of the Panthers-Giants game on ESPN, Chris Berman relayed some info from Mark Schlereth.

Schlereth says he has spoken to Raiders coach Tom Cable, and that Cable claims “nothing happened” between himself and assistant coach Randy Hanson.

If true (and for now we’re not inclined to think it is), that would directly contradict the report from Nancy Gay of FanHouse, who wrote earlier tonight that it was Cable who cold-cocked Hanson earlier this month, sending Hanson to the hospital.

Davis took care of it and made Hanson an offer he couldnt refuse.
In other words, Davis paid HAnson to say it WAS NOT Cable. Therefore Cable can say with conviction that it WAS NOT HIM who hit HAnson.
    End of story.

NFL teams tape everything – it should be pretty easy to figure out who did what. However, it may take a search warrant to get them to make it available.

Florio, you’re an attorney for Gods sake. What the hell did you expect him to say, “I cold cocked the guy because he pissed me off”.
He may not be a Rhodes scholar, Al doesn’t hire many of them, but he’s not that dumb.

By the way, why is ESPN even reporting this story???
It’s all heresay and rumors that Cable hit anybody. The victim wont even say it was Cable.
How is reporting this different than the reason ESPN gave for not reporting the Roethlisburger rape?
I guess the difference is that Cable is a Raiders coach who is not doing any extra work for the network.

Also Schlereth doesn’t qualify as a reliable source about the Raiders.
Also, as hilarious as this story (and the players’ reaction to it) is, it’s overblown.

Does Al Davis have to get out of his gofl cart and deal with with this? This is going to take away from him insisting on drafting a 3rd rounder in the first round and also acquiring awesome talent like Randy Moss and Gallery.

this nancy gay chick is very mental, since schefter(who has “sources”) and Schlereth who loves to bash the raiders but can’t confirm anything and she’s already doing some radio talk thing. She just needs the web hits I guess.

AL DAVIS should be the commissioner of the NFL. If it wasn’t for him the NFL wouldn’t be half the entity it is today.

Al still has a spy in the building. Dredge the bay.
That being said, Nancy Gay is just another laid off fish wrap hack, trying to get noticed.
Check out NFL fanhouse’s roster. The usual suspects are there.
