"Orton Hears A Boo" is catching on

In hindsight, maybe we should have registered a trademark for the phrase, like the Pats in 2008 with 19-0 and Pat Riley two decades earlier with “Three-peat.”

Orton hears a boo” was the headline of an item we posted on August 6, after Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton experienced a rude welcome from fans attending a scrimmage at Invesco Field.

After Orton’s pathetic three-pick performance on Friday night in San Francisco, a young Broncos fan showed up at practice with a sign bearing our headline, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

Good work, 12-year-old Jacob Hessing.  We hope you learn all sorts of other colorful phrases here, too.

What’s worse than that is: Woody Paige just used it on Around The Horn.
My son and I both threw up when we witnessed the thievery.

I’m glad you reminded everyone Florio.
Yea, how did that 19-0 trademark work out for the Cheatriots?
When word broke about the Cheatriots before the Super Bowl the jig was up and they knew all eyes were watching them so they couldnt cheat against the Giants and were exposed.
They are who we thought they were…….FRAUDS

Woody Paige used it today on Around the Horn as well. You didn’t make it up though I heard that when he was still on the Bears…

Great job, Denver fans. That’s how you support your QB who might need a little TLC. He’s a failure before he fails.

Oh wow! I’m such a trendsetter! Act like you work for NBC Michael!

  8. ZombieRevolution says: Aug 17, 2009 6:59 PM

What do you have for Cutler’s 5-10, 1 INT, (should have had another INT)- I’m predicted to be the best QB in Chicago since the dawn of time preformance? Jay faces reality?

Don’t pat yourselves on the back TOO hard. I first heard that phrase back in 2005.

Ummm, “Orton Hears A Boo” is hardly a new saying… hell it started when Orton started for the Bears against the Bengals and threw five interceptions in 2005. The announcers were tossing it around quite a bit, so you’re four years late.

  13. rasalas says: Aug 17, 2009 7:17 PM

Do you really think that you were the first to come up with that phrase?
From the April 6, 2009, Taking Note blog: “In order to acquire Cutler from the Denver Broncos last week, the Bears had to give up two first-round draft picks, a third and quarterback Kyle Orton. As Ian Hamilton of the Regina Leader-Post noted: ‘If he struggles, expect this headline in Denver: Orton hears a boo.’”
And from the Dec. 12, 2008, Chicago Tribune blog about the Bears: “Since the Daily Herald provided readers with brilliance, I’ll start with their columnist, Barry Rozner, who suggests that, had the Bears lost, the headline should have been ‘Orton hears a boo.’”
This isn’t to suggest that anyone lifted it from those mentions. But they show that “Orton hears a boo” is an obvious headline that other people might think of when looking to describe Orton’s storied career — as PFT’s headline proves.
But you keep right on thinking that you’re special.

yup jake, if you complain about how the website login works, someone might tell you to go to hell!

  15. milehiclown says: Aug 17, 2009 7:18 PM

    Florio, you arrogant slut.
That kids does NOT READ PFT. He read it off a book in his sister’s closet and then came up with the concept himself.
In other words–you and and a 12 year old are having competing thoughts. Nice.

Woody Paige used it today on Around The Horn. Don’t ask me why I was watching that crappy show. But the second he said it I thought of my best friend Michael Florio. You should sue his ass.

  18. BuckyBadger says: Aug 17, 2009 7:32 PM

Bronco fans are a bunch of donkeys. They are so critical of everyone on the team and complain no matter what. Yes Orton looked awful but what will jeering the guy accomplish?
As a Packer fan living in Denver the fans here baffle me all the time. This is just one example of years of this too. They have hate here for Dan Reevs even though he is the one that built the franchise up and made it respectful. One guy told be at a game that Shannahan wasn’t winning enough champions in order to appease Denver fans. I asked him how many they had without him.

  19. Rex Grossman says: Aug 17, 2009 7:34 PM

Mike Florio is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.

All of the lame “Spygate” nonsense came out BEFORE the season even STARTED!
So how do you explain the Patriots going undefeated prior to the Super Bowl that year? Moron.

  21. Shackman v2.0 says: Aug 17, 2009 7:39 PM

I know that Orton is never going to be a pro bowler, but cut the guy a little slack, and enough with the self congratulatory back slaps. Peter King’s MMQB column this morning noted that Orton’s official league stats show that in 913 career attempts, he had thrown only 27 interceptions. Which works out to 1 int/33.8 attempts. Although, it kind of reminds me of the phrase that financial institutions like to throw out, “past performance is no guarantee of future success”, or something like that.

  22. HarrisonHits says: Aug 17, 2009 7:41 PM

Hey gameday you moron, the Pats were watched under a microscope all 2007 and winning 18 games does not make you a fraud even though you pathetic Pats hating losers like to think so.
You also might want to refer to the written apology issued by the Herald regarding the “word breaking”, you know the one that admitted there was no basis to their claims.
How long did it take to create that fantasyland you live in ?

  23. notoriousbri says: Aug 17, 2009 7:45 PM

Ok Florio.. why TM something you didnt coin? It was the name of one of my fantasy teams last year. Not that I even made that up.. Why dont you start talking about his neckbeard and trademark that too?

  24. Kidekk says: Aug 17, 2009 8:01 PM

Hey Florio, I you dropped your humbleness. I think you need to REACH down and get it.

I coined the term “Ocho Stinko” when David Carr was in Houston but felt nothing but warm fuzzys when others stole and ran with it. I know you’re a lawyer at heart but really, it’s okay.
