Saints dump Jason David

In a move that should surprise no one, the Saints have cut cornerback Jason David.

Saints V.P. of communications Greg Bensel announced the move on his Twitter page.

The handwriting had been on the wall for a while.  Some might say it first appeared in David’s first appearance with the team, when David was torched on opening night of the 2007 season by his former team, the Colts.

David joined the Saints in 2007 as a restricted free agent.  He signed an offer sheet with the Saints, and the Colts opted not to match.

David will now become an unrestricted free agent, and he will be able to sign with any team.

Keep an eye on the Panthers, since former Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks now coordinates the defense there, and the Vikings, where former Colts assistant Leslie Frazier runs the defense.

“The first few days of practice saw Saints CB Jason David flourishing in defensive coordinator Gregg Williams’ system.”
That was a one liner from you 2 weeks ago…

why would they bring in a guy (this being Meeks or Frazier) that they willingly let go 2 years ago because they knew back then he couldn’t play?

Poor kid got roasted on a regular basis, not a good thing in terms of job security. He’s a decent zone corner, theres just no way he can play man. I’d welcome him back in Indy except there’s really no place for him.

The question I always asked was, “Can a player be cut from a team DURING a game?!?!” It’s about time somebody realized the hellacious mistake that was made when he was signed.

The Panthers are already trying to find a place for the 7th round pick that is turning heads at corner. Why would they bring in another. They have Gamble, Marshall, and 2 picks from this year 2nd rounder Sherrod Martin, not going anywhere being a 2nd rounder, and the 7th round wonder Captain Munnerlyn from South Carolina. I think he’s too short, but all the players are raving over his play. So if he plays special teams, he will make it. They also have C.J. Wilson that they like, and Dante Wesley will probably end up cut, even though he does contribute to special teams.
So mark the Panthers off the list for toast.

Given the Bears need and that David is only a zone corner, I wouldn’t be surprised for them to pick him up. Sh1t, they don’t care if he sucked, they signed Bullocks too.

You guys are all a joke. One of the worst corners in the league!!?? Are you serious?? This guy lead the team in INT’s and scored TD’s for the team..LOL You losers are always trying to find someone to blame. How bout Reggie Bush was supposed to be God in NO and hasn’t done anything. I will tell you this much if he goes to another team in the NFC you better watch out becuase JD has heart and that is going to come back and haunt the saints.
