California Redwoods announce 31 players

We interrupt the ongoing coverage of the Second Annual Brett Favre Unretirement to share some far more intriguing (eye roll) news.

The California Redwoods have announced 31 players who’ll enter training camp with the team next month.

Who are the California Redwoods? They’re the UFL team based in San Francisco, coached by the man who used to lead the Vikings twice per year against the team’s new quarterback. (And we’re not talking about Mike Tice.)

The only names we recognize are running back Obafemi Ayanbadejo, receiver B.J. Sams, and running back John David Washington, the son of Denzel Washington.

At quarterback, for now? Liam O’Hagen of Harvard and Brett Dietz of Hanover.

Um, when in the hell is this league going to call Jeff George?
