No structural damage for Shawn Andrews

Eagles offensive lineman Shawn Andrews has a more pressing issue than whether the media made him out to be a “nut case”: his back injury.

The Pro Bowler has remained on the shelf all training camp, but received some good news Tuesday when he found out there is no structural damage in his back.  Andrews flew to Los Angeles to get looked at by a specialist, who gave him the news.

Scout’s Adam Caplan says Andrews should be able to return individual drills in practice soon, but that he only has a 50% chance to play in Week One.

After Andrews’ lost 2008 season and training camp thus far, those odds don’t sounds so bad.

Hell……..Everyone knew it was Brain Damage……..

That’s not brain damage, that’s Jay Ratliff damage. Hard to believe that Andrews’ ass is still kicked almost a year later.

Please get rid of this guy. He doesn’t have any heart. How many red flags do you need: weight problems, leg problems, neck problems, back problems, mental problems, media problems, hold outs.

He definitely has NO HEART & is milking the system to the core ! When he first started, he showed incredible talent … but the money made his heart weak ! We need guys who WANT to play NOW !! Adios Shawn !

The Eagles need to cut bait on this loser. What a waste this guy is.

Sometimes I read these blogs and am ashamed to be an Eagles fan. The guy is hurt, what do you want from him? I guess it could be worse, I could be a Cowboys fan.

    Call runyan,
Vox I must admit that made me laugh,
I still think you got a thing for swoop tho

This has nothing to do with being an Eagles fan, look at Shawns history. He will tell you he doesn’t believe he needs training camp and declares mental depression to stay away and then he immediately gets hurt in a real game. (can you say, lack of conditioning?)
Now he tells his thoughts, that his depression is a factor in making his back pain occur.
OMG !! Please quit babying these “grown men” who don’t know how to be “professionals”! They get the best health care and millions of dollars to boot ! All to play a GAME !!!
and yes I love football !

Funniest thing I’ve read all year.

When you ask Joe Mays about his experience with structural damage, he assumes you mean all the buildings he’s leveled.

Oh, I’m such a hypocrite! Mocking an athlete on a rivals team for getting an injury.
    Loser.

Y’all bitch about Andrews “attitude” pretending to know more than Andy and his staff.
    Typical armchair loser mentality.
    Go grab a – donkey’s – ball… you lazy mother fixers!

This is not very good for a line that was touted as “maybe the best line in football.” However, Justice and Jean-Gilles have been playing well. Plus, if Stacy is healthy he has experience at RT………..hell, who am I kidding, sign Runyan! He’s better than 29 RT in the league on one banged up leg and…….
I’ve heard that Runyan can drink an entire gallon of milk in thirty-seven seconds!

Enough with the Runyan talk already. He really struggled in pass protection last year (never his strong point to begin with) and age caught up with him in the running game as well. He doesn’t possess the power that he once had.
Could he still start in this league? Probably for quite a few teams but only on a short-term basis. He’s been great but he’s also old and beat up. Much like Brett Fraud, he’s going to wear down as the year goes on.
Like most other Eagles fans, I am frustrated with what is going on with Shawn Andrews. However, when you look at the organization’s history with personnel decisions, I’m willing to give the team the benefit of the doubt.
They have a proven track record of rehabbing injured players, as well as moving on from guys who just don’t have anything left in the tank. Interestingly, Duce Staley makes both lists, but that’s neither here nor there.
If the team is willing to be patient with Andrews (who doesn’t lack talent) and unwilling to bring back Runyan, then I’ll hold judgment for now.

  17. Opie says: Aug 18, 2009 11:45 PM

Runyan’s demise last year was due to him playing thru injuries.
Big Red has left that door open, but they have Superior depth along the line even without him. Justice, by all accounts, has been a nasty, s.o.b so far. Might be his time.
Wonder why no on has reported they cut bait with the safety Baker?
Oh yeah, Y.A. Tittle just came out of retirement and signed with the Vikings!

And Mcnabb throws another pass into the ground…lol! Filthadelphia Sheagles

“And Mcnabb throws another pass into the ground…lol! Filthadelphia Sheagles ”
Who is your team? Because I’ll bet you we beat them in the past few seasons. If you’re in the NFC East, we probably knocked your team out of the playoffs. How many balls got left on the ground then?
Just yours, and the balls of your fellow fans as you whimpered home.
