Drew Brees will be back at Saints practice Thursday, four days after leaving the team to attend the memorial services for his mother Mina, who passed away August 7.
Saints coach Sean Payton said he “thinks” Brees will start the Saints’ next preseason game Saturday. Brees is headed to Houston, where the Saints are practicing against the Texans.
In the first day of their joint practice, first-round pick cornerback Malcolm Jenkins continued to impress. Jenkins picked off Houston quarterback Matt Schaub Wednesday, and returned the ball for a would-be 60-yard touchdown.
Jenkins has quickly worked his way up to nickle back despite a long holdout, giving the Saints better cornerback depth than they’ve had in recent memory.
Drew Brees gives me hope that the NFC will be legitimate again someday.
C’mon Gregg… You are better than that…It’s ‘nickel’ not ‘nickle.’ That’s just weak.
Too bad Brees isn’t an Eagles QB, or else the title would read “Will Brees’ mourning affect his play?” and would promptly receive a hundred comments about Michael Vick.
