… well these guys are deserving QBs and their stats show it… they’ll eventually get more money than Eli. Baby Manning’s got to be the best of all the “young guns”, right?

I find it really telling reading Giant fans constant
excuses for Eli or just thier team losing a game. If you read through the postings above you hear a whole littany of, Osi was hurt, Gilbride called a terible game, our line was decimated,Worthless Defensive coordinator, Strahan retired, the sun was in my eyes, I stepped on a rock, etc,etc,etc, and the list goes on . The giants are a Talented team, no doubt but they are not perfect and you just sound pathetic making excuses for every loss.
I can’t wait to get this season started and we’ll see how it plays out. Forget the past , and look to the future.

say what? proved what? despite the defense decimated by injuries and a worthless def-co-ord tim lewis leading them and roman phifer , kevin lewis and others being their linebackers, giants still made the playoffs twice. only when they fired lewis did giants defense improve.
and last 2 years giants offense was one of the best in the league. there is no comparison to ravens who were completely defense.
or to dilfer who never led the ravens to the playoffs 4 years in a row.- and counting.
btw- only other team currently to also be in the playoffs the last 4 years is peyton manning’s team. no other qb has been able to do it the last 4 years(and counting of course).

Hey Munny, you’re about 1/4 right in my book. I can’t blame last year’s playoff loss on Eli. The Giants got caught with their pants down when Plax went out, our D-Line was decimated, and Gilbride called the worst game I have ever seen. Let’s take a look at Manning’s career in NY. And let’s not forget 2004 was his rookie season, the kid was 22 years old! He was 25 when he won the Superbowl! Who can say that? What QB has won the Superbowl at 25? Tell me, because I don’t know. 2004:
Manning didn’t start the season, the Giants were 6-10 and didn’t make the playoffs.
2005:
We got it handed to us. The Giants would come up shooting blank as everyone played poorly as they were embarrassed and blanked by the Carolina Panthers at home 23-0.
2006:
In the Wild Card round the Giants would face the Eagles for the third time. Much like their first meeting in Philadelphia the Giants trailed entering the 4th Quarter 20-10; however they would battle back tying the game with a little over five minutes remaining on an 11-yard pass from Eli Manning to Plaxico Burress. However, there would be no overtime win this time around, as the Eagles drove down the field to set David Akers up for 38-yard FG that gave the Eagles a 24-21 win as time expired. How is that Manning’s fault? Where was the vaunted Defense everyone says carries Eli?
2007: Superbowl, Manning’s overall rating in the playoffs was outstanding. Didn’t he throw one pick the entire playoffs? He had 2 TD’s in the 1st half alone in Dallas. He was a God in GB, moving the Giants down the field and having Tynes miss field goals twice. The scramble and toss in the Superbowl? Are you kidding me?
Don’t be a dick, Munny. Our boy is 26 years old, he hasn’t even entered his prime. He’s had ONE Pro Bowl caliber WR his entire time there (OK, Amani makes it two) and Plax didn’t even ever practice with Eli! Come on man.

in long history of ny giants no other giant quarterback has led the giants to the playoffs 4 years and a row(and counting) absolutely none.

Winning a Superbowl is already worth it. If he is able to manage 2 or 3 more Superbowls over the course of this extension, it will be a steal. The reality is that he is a winner, not a fantasy stud or a fiery leader that some fans need to crave. The reality is that if Tavaris could deliver a Superbowl, you would have Danny boy or the Eagles give up the farm for the opportunity to be relevant again.

There will never be a NY Giants QB that blows up the stat books but there have been, and will be, seemingly average QBs that win Superbowls. Not only does Manning have to be the QB of the Giants, but he is also the face of the nation’s largest market’s franchise. He is worth the money because of the NFL QB market. Go ahead and break the bank with Cutler or Rivers or any other number of guys. Line up the Superbowl trophies. Naysayers will point to the running game and the defense, I won’t argue that, but I will point out the clutch performances in playoff games. Last year was an aberration based on the Giants not being ready for the loss of Plax and Gilbride calling one of the worst games I have ever seen in my life.

Archie did not average 2000 pass yards a season over his career.
