It’s a big day in the Florio household.
Tonight, Florio Jr. (his mom, for some reason, insists on calling him “Alex”) will be suiting up in his football gear and cracking pads with one or more of his teammates at his first-ever full-contact practice. (They’ve been practicing on a hit-free basis for a week-and-a-half.)
He says he’s looking forward to it.
We’ll see if he feels the same way tomorrow morning.
He plays for the middle school team at Notre Dame High School. The squad of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders had better stay healthy — there are only 16 players on the 11-on-11 team.
And I can already hear SouthernBoi727 complaining about the fact that I’ve cluttered up the page with a post about my kid.
So here’s fair warning to SouthernBoi727.
If you keep it up, the beast in the Mike Alstott shoulder pads is going to be coming after you.
Or Tom Cable.
Frankly, after doing some basic blocking drills with Florio Jr. a little bit ago, I’d be more inclined to take my chances with Cable.
Good looking kid Florio. His expression is perfect for football team photos if I do say so myself. My old high school coach said it looked like I smelled a bad fart in my old football photos.
Having said all that, couldn’t they have put the boy in front of something more intimidating then forest/trees? Blocking sled, brick wall, semi truck, anything but lush green leaves would of been more manly. Although, the green leaves do go well with the green in his uniform. Good luck to him this year. I hope he enjoys it. Tis a great game to play.
ha, awesome florio. congrats.
For a minute there I thought I had stumbled upon a Peter King column.
Cool stuff – I love this aspect of the site, makes you seem almost normal
Florio, congrats…he is going to have a blast, plus how many other kids his age will be followed on an international media mogul like this one?
Neat, Congrats! You must be really proud of your boy.
BTW, SouthernBoi727 can go sit on it. This is the kind of personal touch this site has been lacking since, oh say, July 1st.
Just sayin’!
Keep up the good work though, seriously. This site (and your twitter feed) are staples of my day.
Looks like stone cold killer!! Best of luck and stay healthy. Hope he doesn’t up like me and have back and knee problems from playing H.S and Div III football.
Proud papa! That’s very cool, congrats.
Man, he sure is bursting with excitement. Looks like he can’t wait to get on the field.
Florio Jr. “Hopefully this Bad-assador face makes up for my dad’s poindexter portrait on The Sporting News site.”
He looks like a tough kid! Good luck!
….. and now Florio Jr. knocks Sauerbrun out of the headlines!
Frankly, after doing some basic blocking drills with Florio Jr. a little bit ago, I’d be more inclined to take my chances with Cable.
Except that Florio, you’re a wuss!! So ya, a 6th, 7th or 8th grader could tak you down!!
Hahaha, that is GREAT Florio!!! Good luck to you Florio Jr.!! “Kill ‘em ALL.. let the paramedics sort ‘em out!!!” (Alvin Mack – The Program)
Holy crap.
Did you teach him how to hold a football?
I thought that was Anthony Becht.
I see now…I had that other picture all wrong.

And, apparently, a 6th, 7th or 8th grader can SPELL better than you!! LOL
Glad to see most of the negative comment douchebags decided to STFU so far in these comments. Fully expected to see some loser asking why family news is being spread on a football blog, but apparently they learned from the last couple of posts that you don’t mess with the editor’s kid!
That being said, I’ll bet you couldn’t be more proud, Florio! I have a 3 year old son, and all I can do is hope that he chooses football as a sport (PLEASE don’t let it be baseball). I hope to someday do what you’re soon to do, and that’s watch my boy strap on a helmet and lay some punk on his ASS. Very happy for you!
A guinea in a uniform that says “Irish” on it. Gotta love it.
WAAAYYY too many of these things —
— being used in the comments section.
C’mon guys, this ain’t your wife’s facebook account, this is a damn football site. Tom Cable would like to see you in his office. Bring your own chair.
So, is NBC going to back FlorioJRFootballtalk.com?
How about a live streaming video on the sweet NBC player along with a live blog?
I didn’t know SouthernBoi727 posted anything other defense of dog figthing.
Congrats to you Florio. Remember, taping the opposing teams signs is illegal, and if Jr gets busted for HGH, tell him to say, he wasn’t trying to cheat, he just wanted to get back from an injury.
Give ‘em heck Jr.! Can’t wait to read about you here when you make the pros!
Best of luck to the kid!
will you send me a free book?
good thing that he isn’t into baseball!
Reminds me of this dude.

Get ready for the pain! The pain train’s a-comin! Whoo whoo! You can take a fish outta water but they ain’t never gonna take the linebacker out of Terry Tate!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SQoH24B3C4
You might want to get a picture of him in game. Won’t be much different than this one, except instead of a football he’ll be holding a clipboard.
Haha, just kidding, here’s hoping you light up the football world, Florio Jr.!
With 16 Players on the team, Junior is going to develop an extremely high tolerance for pain and an amazing increase in stamina. A fantastic tribute to the gridiron gladiators of old that I know will give him an even higher sense of appreciation for the sport and for his fellow teammates. Well done.
#88 for the Irish…your kid is Jake Golic!!
Grats. I agree it was a nice post. I always have loved Peter King’s softball posts. But you can do it better Florio. We need weekly updates throughout the season on Florio, Jr.
Good Luck.

You would hope that they learned and wouldn’t make fun of any kid (in a public forum, anyway), but he probably just screened them out.
If you think that you’re tough or cool making fun of children on the internet, there is something wrong with you.
Best #88 since Marvin Harrison.
Kid is gonna kick ass and get tons of chicks.
waaaaaay better post than PFTV
Football needs to be tucked and the pic in high school is normally taken on one knee with the helmet cocked to the side so you can see the logo.
Other then that, congrats, he’ll enjoy himself its the most fun i ever had in my life.
I wonder if Tom Cable and Florio Jr. can do a clinic on trap blocking with Florio Sr. as the defensive player.
Good stuff, Mike. And best of luck to “OchoOcho”.
Good luck to the kid, I hope he has fun and stays healthy.
Now someone in the family will understand football. Have him proof read your articles for the technical stuff.
Have fun kid!
I could kick that kids ass
Make sure he’s always wearing two pairs of socks! If you keep the feet healthy, the mind will follow. Congrats and don’t be one of “those” coaching dads in the bleachers…..please for the love of all that’s holy.
Gotta love the Irish!!
Bring back the ratings Florio. LightningLucci gets a 5 for the “did you teach him how to hold a football”.
Is that not what every father hopes of? God I hope to god when I have children my boys do the same thing. Congrats Florio!
Live blog – what a cool idea!!!
Make sure you let us know how the season goes for Jr. and his team.
At least there’s one Florio in the household who doesn’t look like a pussy….
Wait I want a call out on a post lol
will green day be the halftime show?
Florio, the bounds of your ego has no limits.
Go post this on your facebook page.
Some of us come on here for PRO football news.
Make sure to posts pictures, when he is chasing ambulances in about 15 more years.
Damn Mike, your spawn is already banging on drums, next up will be sweaty linemen, and then he’ll grad-gee-ate to banging chicks. They grow up so darn fast.
Good looking kid. Must take after his mother.
Nice post. Enjoy the family, Florio. There IS more to life than the NFL.
Thanks for sharing. Brings back memories of my own kids’ football and cheerleading days.
Sure looks like a “receiver” to me….
Best of luck to the “Fighting Amish” of Notre Dame Middle School this year.
You SHOULD live blog the games Florio!
No forget that, enjoy being proud of your son. I can’t wait to see my son strap the pads on the future. Give em hell in the stands Dad!
Mike’s kid looks like he could already take the old man down.
He kind of looks like the Mailman (not Karl Malone)
All this time that you have been talking about Florio Jr., I thought you were pulling a Lil’ Sean Incident (Salsbury) . If someone said there was a pic of Florio Jr on the website, I would have said EWWW – he pulled a Cooley??
maybe that was southerboi’s issue. He thought you were talking about your penis!
PS. Pat White will be proud

No way you are getting laid, dude. BOOM ROASTED!
@ M2000M
HAHAHAHA…..I thought the same!….but I hate these pointless articles…there’s a Twitter account you can use to post useless nothing’s that only people who are obsessed with you will care about. I just don’t get this…I don’t know who Florio even likes more, his son or Favre, since, you know, he writes about the same amount on both
You need to teach him how to hold a football. It’s not a loaf of bread.

Yes, he’s screening them out. Personally, I’d never post pictures of my kids on a blog. So I think Sr. deserves more mocking than Jr.
But I did toss in a little jab. Too bad Sr. didn’t let it slide through.
Don’t kick Florio Jr. (Alex) out of the house when his favorite pro team changes from the Steelers to the almighty ATLANTA FALCONS! Wise young lad will see the light, and it is blinding. Keep Jr. away from guys like Brian Cushing though, their nutritional regimen can be contagious.
Caption: Future WVU waterboy.
I wonder if Jr is ok with the posts about him.
Hopefully he will get his leg broken in a Theisman Manner! And we will never have to hear about him again. Unless we go to his own website of course. But since this is Slanted Pro Football talk, I am getting a bit tired of this Brat. And his band sucks too, It’s a shame that I have to know about his lousy band when I had no interest in it. I came here for Pro Football, Probably not too much longer though.
You need to feed that kid a few more pepperoni rolls to get him playing iron man type football.
“If you think that you’re tough or cool making fun of children on the internet, there is something wrong with you.”
It’s mostly Eagirls fans. They’re bitter and full of hate because of decades of EPIC FAIL.
Dont worry about it Florio, its your site, post as many pics and stories about “The Baby Faced Assassin” that you want.
Plus, only fags spell boy “boi”, just sayin
Florio Jr’s Notre Dame team has a better chance of being in the BCS bowl than the real one.

And yet lame asses like you show up, take the time to read the post, and then drop your mindless babble in the comments. If it were my blog, I’d simply erase your account, ban your IP, and then send you a nasty email about what a douche you are. Of course, I am a little more spiteful that Florio…
You can always go read ESPN.com and find out about things when THEY deem it’s time.
Knowing Florio he’ll leave the game at halftime.

Dude, are you serious? Take a hike!
Even if this is a joke, it’s done in very poor taste. Way to be classy!
congrats mike. even though i come here for NFL news, it is nice to see some stuff like this. Good luck to Jr on the upcoming season! keep the updates coming
