Another day, another Reggie Bush injury

This is my first training camp writing for PFT, and I’ve learned a few tricks along the way to help save time while posting.  One veteran move is to use a template for Reggie Bush’s minor injuries.  It goes something like this:

“Saints running back Reggie Bush was seen limping after the Saints’ morning practice with a [blank] injury, sat out the team’s afternoon session, and coach Sean Payton says the injury isn’t serious.”

The paragraph can be dropped into posts a few times a week, and commenters will be too busy questioning Bush’s manhood to notice.

On this particular Thursday, Bush reportedly hurt his calf, not his oft-troubled knee.  Payton said Bush could play if there was a regular season game today, although it’s unclear if he’ll participate in New Orleans’ preseason game Saturday.

Bush has managed to avoid any serious problems this preseason, but all the “nicks” will likely encourage Payton to limit Bush’s workload in an effort to have him finish the season for the first time in three years.

  1. I bet the Texans are still kicking themselves for drafting Mario Williams……
Reggie Bush: most overrated player of the last 5 years.

  2. I feel bad for Reggie Bush, first he removes Kim Kardashians weighty ass from his back and now this…lol.

  3. This guy was never a good fit for the NFL.
    He is too small.
The Saints were foolish to believe the hype that a track man could be a football player.
Their 7th round compensatory pick that year has had a better career.

  4. I never watched Bush play in college so to me he’s always been a lot of hype, no surprise here. Except for the article template thing, that’s sort of a surprise.
Way to break the 4th wall there, Gregg, lol.

  5. I was one of the folks laughing at the Texans for passing on Bush and Vince Young, and taking Mario Williams instead for the #1 pick. I stopped laughing some time last year.

  6. When he got drafted all you heard was Reggie Bush was the next Barry Sanders. You don’t hear those names in the same sentence anymore.

  7. I hope that the NFL gets the message from Mike Ornstein (as delivered by his vessel Peter King) and gets Reggie number 5 soon before it’s too late and he has to retire early!

  8. The Saints should just use Bush as a kick returner and situational back. And since nobody’s said it yet, Florio don’t tell Rosey what to write! Greggg might call Florio “sir”, but he is his own man.

  9. Enough already. Send Vince his Heisman and send OU the National Title. Let’s see, Memphis voided 30+ wins and FSU lost ten wins and cost Bowden the lead in victories. But those douches at USC cheat their arses off and nothing. BS NCAA!

    You and me both.

  11. I thought Kimmy was his “calf”. Shouldn’t he go to jail for hurting it?
She’s a waste of meat but I’d still like to get me some of that veal.

  12. “On this particular Thursday, Bush reportedly hurt his calf”
Where’s the outrage? Vick hurts dogs and goes to jail, but Bush brings a baby cow to practice, hurts it and nothing is said? Call PETA!

I’m almost tempted to take Michael Bush over Reggie Bush…”
I would take George W. Bush over Reggie Bush. Did you see how he dodged those shoes? That boy has some skills!!

    That’s what they do.
You have to admit that defensive coordinators have to game plan against him when he is in the game.
He is not a “BUST”. If the Saints cut him how long would he be out of a job? How many teams do you think would be interested in him?

  15. I don’t follow the saints at all so I was a little shocked at all these people calling Bush a Bust.
I looked up his stats and had no idea that since his rookie season he has not gotten 1000 TOTAL yards or more than 7 total TDs in a season.
I figured with his combined rushing and receiving yards he would have easily done both or either.

    2006 16 games: 1523 tyds. 9 td’s
    2007 12 games: 1010 tyds. 6 td’s
