dawk20db: If I came across as defending wife & child abusers, that wasn’t my intent. I’m talking about specific NFL players who’ve gotten into isolated domestic disputes, and contrasting that with the malicious, long-term intent of Vick’s crimes. Do you have specific examples of NFL players who have been long-term wife-beaters or child abusers? If so, please list them. I’m not aware of any, but if there are some, then my comments don’t apply to them.
So, for assuming I said something I didn’t and not reading my post carefully enough, looks like the only “ignorant f&#k” in this exchange is you.

Other cultures practice child slavery, human trafficking, female genital mutilation… does that also make those things okay? Until things like slavery, the genocide of American Indians, child labor, and no voting rights for women were done away with, they were also considered acceptable. Your argument is just silly. We learn more, and we grow out of barbaric habits. Or at least we should.

Football is about a team effort, regardless of color, mental capacity, or choice of post-game apparel; You live and die each play for your brothers out there on that field. Yet we have outdated insults like “YOU” people (What’s next honkeys and spades? Spooks and ofays?) causing a ruckus in response to a store’s decision to stock merchandise of a football player on a team of multiple races. To imply that a stereotype is worth employing as an insult just because you cannot claim authorship makes you just as valuable as the ignorance used in its creation.
I have read countless articles in the “Vick=Click” sections and the one resounding theme is that the race cards will always be played on both sides because the decks are stacked on both sides with plenty of them; which makes the job of these articles created by an unassumingly manipulative and subtly racist wordsmith quite easy to fulfill…generate web traffic, create and maintain racial discord, and fill your mind with ignorance instead of worthy football knowledge and intelligence.
And I guess that I don’t get to play because I am neither Black nor White. (Just to clear up any misconceptions that I am Anti-Either.)
