At least two Dolphins players will sit out Saturday’s preseason game because of something that has never showed up on an injury report: swine flu. [Editor's note: Eric Mangini would still call it a leg injury.]
Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have advised the rest of the team that some players (possibly as few as two) will be out after testing positive for the virus.
There is not yet a “major fear” that swine flu has spread, but the team has told the players to maintain good hygiene and wash their hands regularly to avoid coming down with the condition.
Darlington writes that “the disease is considered manageable and symptoms in healthy adults tend to be mild,” but clearly the possibility of an outbreak on a team that spends all day in such close quarters would be a concern.
It’s not clear yet which players tested positive for the disease.
Also, this just in…Bill Parcells is shaped like a bartlett pear.
Oooh. Scary. Swine flu. IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD! RUN!
Decent tag line Dr.Mike, but I’d leave the writing to Rosenberg.
Disease or illness? It is the flu, not cancer.
Maybe they had one of those “hogg nights” that SixBurghDude was talking about in the Roethlisberger discussion. Were they in Pissburgh at any time in the past week or two?
WTF?! Taken down by the swine flu? Who would’ve seen it coming?
THIS IS NOTHING TO LAUGH AT AND ITS SPREAD ALL OVER THE WORLD

Damn I knew they took away his video taping, but I didn’t think Bill Belicheck would resort to this to win the AFC East.
Incidentally, rookie starting CB Sean Smith is out with flu-like symptoms. But he is not one of the players infected.
Are they sure it’s not just a staph infection they might have picked up in Cleveland?
so now they’re saying that the dolphins only told the players it was swine flu so they would prepare for the worst…. this is crazy
Blame it on Michael Vick. You probably will sooner or later.
I don’t believe the article says they tested posiitve. They are assuming it is Swine Flu.
It is Jason Allen and Sean Smith.
They are also now the number two and three CB’s on the roster (Jason Allen is now the nickel CB and Vontae Davis is the backup CB now that the Dolphins cut Eric Green before they had to.
Expect the Panthers to throw deep all night.

The Eagles might be at risk of this, too.
There’s been recent reports of a sick swine possibly playing in next weeks game.
Mike – although I agree that Eric Mangini doesn’t seem to follow NFL injury reporting rules, we really won’t know for sure until one of his assistants stabs him in the back and “repays” him for giving them a shot in the NFL by spilling his secrets when they move on to their next team.
