Saints-Texans one-liners

Saints RB Mike Bell made a strong play for a roster spot with 100 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown.

WR Marques Colston had six catches for 68 yards as the Saints found it easy to move the ball through the air as well.

Saints T Jermon Bushrod, starting in place of T Jamaal Brown, held his own against Texans DE Mario Williams.

Saints WR Rod Harper returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown to help his bid for a place on the final roster.

DT Sedrick Ellis, S Darren Sharper, and CB Jabari Greer combined to force a key first-half turnover for the Saints.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak called Saturday night’s loss “humbling.”

Their first-half struggles made it clear that the Texans defense remains a work in progress.

Said Texans QB Matt Schaub, “We took it right down the field on the opening drive and got seven
points.  But after that, we didn’t convert a lot of
opportunities.  It’s disappointing, and we’ve got to go fix a few things.”

The Texans only managed to average 2.8 yards per rush on Saturday night.

Texans rookie DE Connor Barwin sacked Saints QB Joey Harrington in the third quarter for his second sack in as many games.
