Source: Marvel Smith is done

Just moments after we posted on 49ers tackle Marvel Smith possibly retiring, Mike Florio has confirmed through a league source that Smith is, indeed, through with football.

Smith was originally expected to start at right tackle, but his back problems wouldn’t allow it.  It’s uncertain if Smith earned any guaranteed money from the 49ers, but the team did include clauses in their contract with Smith to protect them from injuries.

Smith won two Super Bowl rings in nine seasons with Pittsburgh, and started throughout their championship run after the 2005 season.

Thanx Marvel…Take your 2 rings, retire, and take care of that back…Kind of a letdown to try and play for any of the other 31 loser franchises except the Burgh!!!

So…you scooped Florio on his own site?

Maybe Big Ben can hire him as another route to scare off Big Nose and her attorney. Since the bullshit they’ve tried already has and wont work.
And BrenstonBuckner way to be a good winner, I’m sure that had nothing to do with you picking them as your team, (your probably a fan of the Yankees, Duke and any other team you can’t help but cheer on a winner with), just love people who always pick a front runner as their team.

He gave it the old college try. Good luck on healing that back and congrats on a decent career. We’ll, I wouldn’t call the rest of the teams losers, just the one that have won it all! Chargers for one. He he he…

Why do they keep saying the steelers won 2 super bowls in 5 years. I’m pretty sure the refs beat the Seahawks in ’05. That Stuper Bowl was named NFL Network’s 7th most controversial event in football history. Hell, there’s even a wikipedia page about that monstrosity

The Steelers are one of the “Shit Don’t Stink” franchises, along with the Patriots.
Face it; the NFL plays favorites. It’s a joke at this point.

Oh wow, a wikipedia page !?!?
Who cares? There’s a wikipedia page on damn near everything.
XL was just a crappy game. The media blew the referee angle out of proportion because neither team played very well and there was nothing else of note to discuss. The refs didn’t make Holmgren into a terrible clock manager, for example, and they didn’t force the Seahawks’ punter to continually waste field position by kicking touchbacks instead of pinning the Steelers deep.

I can’t believe I am even going to respond to you incredibly stupid post – but what you say must be true if there is a wikipedia entry about it … I know it must be true then…. I mean there’s one on bigfoot so that must be real….there is one on the Loch Ness monster so that must be real … what a stupid argument to say something about a football game and the officiating…..give it up!
