Broncos fans prepare for "Jay Day"

Preseason games don’t count.  (Please address me as Mr. Wizard from this point forward.)  It’s glorified practice for the players; for the fans, who have to buy tickets to the two fake games in order to buy tickets to the eight real ones, it’s at most a chance to try out some new tailgating strategies.

But when the Bears play the Broncos on Sunday night, there will be a much different feel.

Former Denver quarterback Jay Cutler, who successfully forced his way out of town early in the offseason, will be back.  And for Broncos fans who’ll likely have not much to celebrate during the 2009 regular season, the highlight of the year could be the hate fest that is planned for the quarterback with no apparent chin.

According to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, a group of fans gathered at a local bar in advance of “Jay Day,” with a goal of destroying their Jay Cutler jerseys.

They couldn’t get a permit to burn the jerseys, so they flushed them down a makeshift toilet (unfortunately typo narrowly averted, again) and they used tools like a sander and weed whacker to symbolically diss the former Denver franchise quarterback.

“We’re tired of all the spoiled brat, punk sports figures,” Jamison
Coomes, who sold anti-Cutler T-shirts and stickers at the event, told Jones.  “Brandon [Marshall is] the next one.”

Under the league’s current scheduling format, Cutler will return to Denver in 2011, assuming that he’s still with the Bears.  And that there isn’t a lockout that year.

Until then, Cutler’s only appearance in Colorado comes on Sunday night, in a game that will be televised nationally by (you guessed it) NBC.

The event might just call for a Live Blog.

lol… Have you seen Denvers D?… no chance. They may not get a sack all year.
How happy is Cutler that he got out of that mess?

CutlerIsACryBaby. That’s all there is to say.

At least run a live blog until Cutler is done playing (or has been shot), whichever comes first.

    Second that notion.
As a Bears fan I just wanna watch the Defense take out their frustration from last year on Orton. Oh, I just pray they get a shot at Grossman. I bet they would end his career.
    Like,
“Fool! You cost us a playoff spot! Take that.”

You know what else deserves a blog Florio…a rundown and ranking of the women that talk football on the TV.
Hannah Storm is sneaky hot. I’ve got a softspot for Wendy Nix. Jenn Brown on Inside the NFL was like Joe Flacco in her rookie year…minus the unibrow. Michelle Tafoya’s in there. Suzie Kolber won me over when they showed that old footage of her playing Pop Warner.
If I wind up in the less favorable of the afterlives, my companion will be Linda Cohn.

No matter what they say, Denver fans would cut off their right arm to have this guy back as their QB. Go Cutler and Go Bears!

There’s no more bitter, sour and down fans than Denver Broncos fans. I loved going to Colorado every winter and realizing, its not that bad, we in Houston don’t feel THAT bad about our season. Remember Griese’s years with the Broncos? Drowned by the bottle, pulling each Bronco fan down and in with every drink.

  14. Philtration says: Aug 29, 2009 9:22 PM

    Poor Bronco fans.
Reduced to acting like whiny little jag offs.
Unless….. you were already pathetic and were just waiting for a bandwagon to jump on.
If you really are wishing for a season ending injury to an NFL QB then maybe you should save that for Kyle Orton.
Sorry… I said NFL Quarter Back.
    Never mind.

Are you kidding? Denver has 7 sacks so far in two pre-season games, all of them by the 1st stringers (i.e. not in garbage time).
Do you have any other stupid things to say? I greatly enjoy pointing out how dumb you are to everyone…thanks in advance.

Will nutcase McDaniel try to lock Cutler out of the stadium in a feeble attempt to emulate his mentor, Bill Belichek…what a joke? First he ran Culer out and now he is running off punk Marshall…do you think he will try to overthrow Bowlen next?

While I’m sure not predicting a playoff year for the Broncos, try not to base your assumptions on old data.
To the question “have you seen the Broncos’ D” – Yes, I have and thus far, in 2 preseason games they have amassed 7 sacks. It is quite possible the Broncos will get at least one and possibly multiple sacks against Cutler and/or your mom.
Since I know I’m going to have one hell of a year in fandom, I plan to cherish this game. Here’s to more than 4 wins for my Broncos this year, and Cuntler continuing to look like a bitch.

Couldn’t agree more. She makes me so turgid I almost black out from lack of blood flow to the brain.
“First he ran Culer out and now he is running off punk Marshall.”
Marshall’s doing a bang up job of running himself out of town all on his own, thank you very much.

    @ dare2beme
LOL!!! So because one of the NFL’s worst defenses gets 7 sacks in 2 preseason games all of the sudden they’ve turned a corner and are going to get multiple sacks on Cutler?? Hilarious. Can’t wait to watch him chew u guys up. He wasn’t sacked once against the Giants who, many would say, have the best DLine in football.
U guys think YOU have a great OLine because of how few sacks you gave up… Well guess what, you’re in for a rude awakening with Orton. I guarantee u will have 50% more sacks given up this year without Cutlers quick delivery and escapability. Orton feels pocket pressure like a blind man crosses the street.

But when will Denver prepare for Gay Day?

  25. ScreamingIdiot says: Aug 30, 2009 3:28 AM

Yeah I would hate my 26 year old pro bowl QB for being great and then getting traded as well….
Oh wait, no, I would hate management and the coach for taking a 30th defense and the first thing I did was trying to sucker punch Cutler for Cassell instead of upgrading the defense.
Grow up Donkey fans. Put your hate in the right place. This is why we got to smarten up as a nation.
Stop trading your best players to the Bears!

Yeah, who the hell does Cutler think he is, John Elway?

  27. string888 says: Aug 30, 2009 10:41 AM

Wasn’t Elway a whiney little bitch that pulled the same thing on the Colts that Cutler did to the Broncos? Guess you guys are just getting what comes to you.

Pro-Bowl QB – my ass. Cuntler made the Pro Bowl because Tom Brady was hurt. Give me a fu*king break. Has this idiot ever had a winning season in his life? I love his quote:
‘I think both sides would change certain things, go about it a different way,” Cutler said of his departure from Denver.
Those are the EXACT same words Favre used when describing the stupid circus he pulled last summer. How shocking that Cuntler and Favre have the same agent, Bus Cook. I think Cook feeds those two vaginas fu*king hormone pills and they likely sit around and watch reality TV together. Favre wears purple panties now, so perhaps those two should get together and do the cover for Victoria’s Secret or something.
Cuntler, a Pro Bowl QB? Yeah … right.

When did the American people become so hateful toward each other?
This is only a game – why get crazy about it? If the best you can do is get on the internet and anonymously make asses of yourself, perhaps you shoud get out there and make yourself useful to others. At least do something constructive with your spare time.

Sorry, I’m a Pack fan & would love to see Denver break Cutler (yeah, he helps the Bears make the NFC North more exciting & I wouldn’t mind seeing him gone–I said it) in half but I had to throw that in there.

  33. footballrulz says: Aug 30, 2009 2:33 PM

For all those wishing a season ending sack grow up. How would you like it if someone were to wish a car accident leaving you ought of work for a year on you. Just be glad he isnt in Denver anymore but remember when your 0 and 12 that your new couch has shown he is incompetant in managing people and the Broncos have little hope until he leaves skills. Bowlen’s latest mistake will make Bronco’s fans wishing they had a season as good as the Raiders.

  38. footballrulz says: Aug 30, 2009 5:20 PM

Ah I knew it, the 7 Carlin words mean nothing.
And actually what I meant to say was:

Denver got a good Q.B. in Orton, just wait until he gets comfortable with the offense.
Fortunately we(dah bears) got da bomb Q.B.(Cutler) and we will win the NFC, not no stupid dome team(vikings) and most certainly not them stinky cheeseheads. LOL
    GO BEARS!!
