Patriots-Redskins one-liners

QB Tom Brady’s injury was the big story of the night, but Patriots CB Jonathan Wilhite made the play of the night with a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Despite Wilhite’s play, it wasn’t an overly successful night for the Patriots secondary.

One of the buses carrying Patriots players to FedEx Field Friday night broke down, although players said it didn’t affect their preparation for the game.

Patriots WR Matthew Slater might have jeopardized his chances of making the roster by picking up a fair catch interference penalty for the second straight week.

S Patrick Chung muffed a punt early in the game but made the Patriots look good for sticking with him by setting up the winning field goal with a 33-yard return in the fourth quarter.

Redskins QB Jason Campbell bounced back with a 13-of-22, 209-yard performance on Friday night.

The Redskins were penalized 15 times for 113 yards with flags flying during all three phases of the game.

Wilhite’s interception was the second one Redskins QB Colt Brennan has thrown at the goal line during the preseason, but he bounced back to lead a touchdown drive later in the game.

Redskins DE/LB Brian Orakpo recorded six tackles and said after the game that he’s adjusted to the speed of the NFL.

Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall’s struggles against Randy Moss has some wondering if CB Carlos Rogers should have responsibility for bigger receivers in the future.

Hall is an overated corner who is mediacore at best.. see E. Royal torching him repeatdly last season. He stood no chance against Moss, Skins you are in trouble. It saids it all when Al Davis is willing to cut you…

When Brady and Moss are clicking like that, theres not a CB in the League that can stop that.

Carlos Rogers would normally be handling guys like Moss. He played well against Calvin Johnson, T.O., Larry Fitz, and other big receivers, so it’s not much of a concern. And getting beat by Tom Brady and Randy Moss isn’t exactly the end of the world.
As for Matthew Slater, I don’t see how those penalties could hurt him. He was a playmaker on special teams for the Pats, so a few typical preseason mistakes alone shouldn’t hurt him.

I was baffled by the 10yd cushion Hall was giving Moss. As soon as Hall would begin to back peddle, Moss would either stop & turn around, or cut inside for a catch. Even Aunt Jemima would have been wide open! On the TD pass, Hall had decent coverage but missed the play on the ball. If you don’t bump Moss off the line, but instead allow him to run free down field…you are going to get torched.

Who can cover Randy Moss one on one for very long? Hall’s coverage on the TD pass was solid. He was right with Moss, but Moss made a great catch, like great receivers do.
Moss torched LaRon Landry pretty bad later on and nobody’s squawking about that. Sure, Landry’s a safety, but he flat out got smoked. That’s just what a guy like Randy Moss does.
Plus, you can’t double Moss as much as you’d like because the Pats have Welker, Galloway, etc etc.
