Jets-Giants one-liners

Said Jets coach Rex Ryan of QB Mark Sanchez, "He played great.  He is what we thought he was."

The Jets defense had a rocky night, picking up several drive-extending penalties and failing to generate much pass rush.

They had some highlights, though, including an interception by LB David Harris and a forced fumble by LB Bart Scott.

Jets WR Chansi Stuckey might have wrapped up a starting job with four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.

Jets T D'Brickashaw Ferguson had two false starts and was beaten for a sack by Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka.

A drop by the wide-open Steve Smith on a long pass in the first quarter illustrates all the fears about the Giants wide receivers.

On the other hand, two touchdowns by rookie WR Hakeem Nicks illustrated the Giants' hopefulness, even if they came against the Jets' second-team defense.

The Giants' front four did not provide a consistent pass rush on Saturday night.

Giants RB Brandon Jacobs left the game after injuring his forearm, but x-rays were negative.

Said Giants coach Tom Coughlin of his defense, "We are not anywhere near where we need to be.  I think we did a little bit better, I didn't see the stats, but I think we did a little bit better against the run, although I may be wrong there.  We didn't get the pressure on the quarterback that we would have liked to have.  We gave up some plays in the secondary that we just shouldn't give up."

    Not that concerned.

The Giants made it known that they were looking to pass more inthis game 0 and they did.

Not a typical game plan for a regular season game.

Did notice that Smith's drop did take a lot out of the Gmen's swagger.

Will be interesting to see how the passing game evolves as we continue this season.
