Raiders coach Tom Cable, whose team was on the wrong side of a 45-7 preseason lambasting on Saturday, addressed the blowout loss on Sunday.
“Obviously, I’m
embarrassed by that effort,” Cable said, per Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune. “It was not very good in terms
of the third preseason game. It just seemed like early in the game we
could not make a play on either side of the ball.”
And, as Corkran surmises, it sounds like the Raiders will be scanning the waiver wires for other teams’ trash that might be converted into silver-and-black treasure.
“We’ve got guys there
who can make plays that don’t make them,” Cable said. “We’ve got guys
who can wrap up but don’t. We see a safety blitz off the edge; we
picked it up a thousand times and we see it too late. Just things like
that. We’re not very sharp. Not very detailed.”
But Cable isn’t yet ready to throw in any towels. (Or break any jaws. Allegedly.)
“We’ll stay the
course,” Cable said. “This is disappointing and embarrassing to me. I
see where we’re headed and I see where we’re going to be. I’m not going
to let this be a setback. . . . I see what we’re capable of doing and
I’m not going to give in on it.”
He should be embarrassed. That was a pathetic excuse for a Raiders team. I will admit that the Saints are a decent team, but no one should be dominated like that. The Raiders better “Un-F…” themselves before the season starts.

No true leadership anywhere on the team where it counts: QB, WR, RB MLB. Supposedly some of the players were out late the night before according to Greg Ellis. There are players who get too much love for doing nothing. I am sick of Thomas Howard celebrating a typical tackle. Pathetic. Celebrate a win fool. Too many twitter boys on the team and throughout the league. Raiders are worse than last year. Al made a mistake with Cable and its starting to show. Charger are licking their chops. Crappy offense and horrible front four. Kelly loser, Scott not a natural DL or full time guy, Ellis looks slow, Warren maybe the best of them and that’s not saying much. Al Davis has got to let go or leave all together.

It was 95 degree outside and the Raiders piss poor planning had them wearing the SILVER and BLACK uniforms. That had something to do with it and, oh yeh the Head Coach is getting investigated by the cops. Those two things get in the way of playing a good preseason game. Sooner or later, the team is just gonna shit da bed and give up…
I could see writing off the Saints’ ass-beating of them if Drew Brees and more of the 1st stringers had stayed in past the first two minutes of the 2nd quarter.
Getting constantly gashed left and right by the 2nd and 3rd stringers on the O-line, the 4th and 5th stringers at RB, etc. while you still have a lot of your 1st stringers in on D is pretty damn pathetic.
Watched the Madden HOF special on NFLN recently.

I’m a diehard Raider fan since 76 and I’m very embarrassed by that game too. Heck, if I wasn’t a Raider fan I’d be embarrassed for us.

When was your last Superbowl win? 1983-84. 26 years ago. That isn’t much to brag about.

Al Davis is never going to relinquish his control over the team, his son has no interest in running the team. So what happens after he dies could be worse than what we are seeing now if you could imagine that!
well at least they laid this turd right now.. The last few seasons we lay this big turd on opening night. (we get that honor every year to play under the lights and get embarassed when it counts) .Gotta crack me up I rememebr in 06 we won 4 pre-seasons game, and was our worse team ever! So I am somewhat glad in happened now, and all the players need to realize that they really are not that good of a team, and have plenty of work to do. I still think AFC west is weak, and Raiders are the 2nd best team in that division. So when it counts against the Chargers opening night well say a lot> Of course I want to win, but just be compeititive.
