Orton expected to be ready for opener

It’s unclear what exactly happened to Kyle Orton’s finger Sunday night, but the injury isn’t expected to keep him out of Denver’s season opener, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Cameras showed Orton’s finger bleeding and teammates could hear Orton scream in pain as it appeared his finger was yanked into place.

If Orton misses Thursday’s preseason game, the Broncos will start rookie Tom Brandstater, since backup quarterback Chris Simms is out with an ankle injury.

That means Orton should play next on September 13 to face off against another gimpy quarterback:  Carson Palmer.  We’ll have to wait and see if Brandon Marshall is also on the plane to Cincinnati.

Thank god. Or our season was in the crapper.
    Oh. Wait.
(I want them to start Tom Brandstater–he looked better than Orton in the pocket and he threw crisp, clean passes.)

Milehiclow – You’re not very intelligent if you believe the Broncos would be better off with Brandstater. TB was playing against 2nd and 3rd string players for the majority of his time and while he did look good at times, he also made quite a few mental mistakes and called for wrong protections twice (that I saw. For all we know, he could have called for the wrong protections more than that). Orton isn’t a bad QB by any means and he could do well in McDaniels system, but he’s not the type of Qb that will be able to make big plays.
Oh, and thanks for Jay Cutler!

In Brandstater’s defense, his first drive WAS against the Bears’ 1st team defense. Although he probably doesn’t read defenses that well and looks tentative in the pocket, he does have good mechanics and made some strong throws.

That’s true but it’s simply because the Bears first team D did not prepare for Brandstater, they prepared for Kyle Orton. They spent all those hours of watching video of Orton, not Brandstater so they were caught off guard. On the next drive, the Bears D began to understand what Brandstater was doing and they shut him down.

For the first time since the early 70′s, I can honestly say I don’t care about the upcoming season. Firing Mike, Trading Jay, and everything that Hoodie Jr. has done in between has taken its toll on me. Not to mention the thought of at best going 3-13 this season and the nightmare that will be Kyle Orton at QB, what’s the point in caring??! Thank you Mr. Bowlen for all the extra time I’ll have this season to be doing other things rather than watching the Broncos lose (and I’m guessing lose badly and often). I’ll set my sports alarm for ‘Spring Training,’ as I am sure the Avalanche are going to suck as bad, if not worse, than the Broncos this season.

McDaniels had to have looked like the biggest idiot in the NFL, after watching Cutler manhandle Denver on their own turf.
Adding insult to injury, Orton points to his finger and walks off the field like a little girl.
McDaniels = worst coach of the year.
