Andre Smith fractures foot

Bengals tackle Andre Smith just provided another dramatic plot point for Hard Knocks.

The sixth overall pick of the draft broke his foot Tuesday, just two days after signing with the team.  The injury came in a non-contact drill and Smith will not require surgery on the foot.

“It’s too soon to closely predict how long it will be before he can
return to practice. But it looks like he’s going to miss a few weeks,” coach Marvin Lewis said.

The Bengals seemed hopeful Smith could get in shape fast enough to start at right tackle in Week One, but those plans will have to be scuttled now.

Somewhere, Carson Palmer is shaking his head.

The Bengals Organization is f#!ing joke…
This is what happens when you let a fat boy sit around waiting to get paid… he had one too many twinkies

Probably a “step slow” after missing all that camp time.

andre smith the gift that just keeps on giving! He has a provision in his contract that for every game he is over 350lbs or not on the active roster his pay will be slashed in half.. guess not so many twinkies in rehab!!!

  8. brasho says: Sep 1, 2009 5:45 PM

This is a pre-existing injury, we saw was video of him running his fat tail through the 40… that lardo had to stop some time and when he did… SNAP… he broke his foot!

That’s a shame. Sorry, Bengals fans. Getting a high first round pick is like Christmas morning. When they get hurt it’s like seeing that new toy crack in half. Very disappointing.

    Wow, just wow.

I disagree on this instance. If he sits around his house getting his arse even fatter, he gets his salary cut down.
The Bungles are coming off like geniuses on that one. They are still down a right tackle, but injury can happen to anyone.

And if he’s an ounce over tree-fiddy they only owe him half his salary while he’s inactive. I’ll bet Mike Brown just sent 10 pizzas & 3 bags of chinese food over to Andre’s house.

I saw this coming. Now for a 350 lb guy how long do you think it will take for that foot to heal completely? Not in a “few weeks”, not in a “few months”. But I never saw him contributing either since he missed training camp. If they get him playing meaningful snaps by December they will have done well.
Bengals should immediately plan on using the shotgun for most of Carson’s passing plays. Otherwise he gets killed again with that awesome Oline of Whitworth, Livings, Cook, Williams and Collins.

To those dumbasses who have to throw in something about”cheating” into every Pats comment……your team also filmed, if you don’t think so then you’re just stupid….along with posting like a 5 year old…..the Pats just got ratted out by a POS coach who used to do it when he was with the Pats……”
I love listening to Pats fans offering their various “spins” on the truth over the years, trying to justify what they did through endless diatribes of circular logic. It’s just a gift that keeps on giving and giving.

    hey Florios_a_tool,
And i love clueless tools like you who have so little football knowledge
and the fact that you only scream about the Pats instead of the other teams whose coaches admitted they taped at one point, or the Broncos who were salary cap cheats to win their championships, or the 72 Fins who were fined a 1st round pick for tampering to get their coach, or the Panthers team the Pats beat in the SB that was riddled with steroid users etc etc
Your tunnel vision and lack of spreading it around make all your insults and claims meaningless.

I especially love it when Pats fans toss out the ol’ “but everybody did it” defense, then claim that exact same argument doesn’t apply when THEY bring up the Steelers & steroids in the ’70′s.
    [ /aren't they precious? ]
It doesn’t matter if YOU think it’s meaningless or not. The League disagreed, obviously. Your franchise and coach received the largest fines in NFL history, remember?
Don’t you NE assclowns ever get tired of getting thrown to the curb? Why do you keep coming back for more??

Had to re-read this a number of times and each time found nothing about the Bengals, Andre Smith or a broken foot. I think you are lost. Did you miss a turn somewhere?

Or better yet, getting Andre Smith signed and in camp and watching him get injured within 72 hours is much more like un-wrapping a Christmas present, and asking the gift-giver immediately afterwards “Did you save the receipt?”
Andre Smith, since he was drafted, is more like The Nightmare Before Christmas, and less like anything that resembles a gift.
Good luck drafting in the Top 10 next year, though, Mr. Brown.

Andre is so fat that they have to prepare his chinese food in bags? The traditional boxes don’t do it for him?
