Jon and Mark Richardson resign from Panthers

As it turns out, the trade that brought defensive lineman Louis Leonard to Charlotte is small potatoes in comparison to the other development with the franchise.

The Panthers have announced that Jon Richardson and Mark Richardson abruptly have resigned as the presidents of Panthers Stadium LLC and Panthers Football LLC, respectively.

“Both Mark and Jon made great contributions to the stadium and team that
have enabled us to enjoy much success over the last 15 years,” said
Panthers owner Jerry Richardson regarding his sons.  “At the same time, I am thankful
that we have a staff that has been in place for many years and knows
our philosophy.”

No reason has been given for the resignations.  Both men will remain within the ownership group.

  1. They were fired after Jerry Richarson saw all the free publicity and attention that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys were getting over the video board. Jerry R. said, “that’s more attention in the past three weeks than our franchise has gotten in the past 15 years! INCLUDING a trip to the Super Bowl. Surely these dumbass sons of mine could have thought up something similar to get the Panthers on the front page. On second thought, we can’t risk sullying the image of the NFL over a punt or two hitting a scoreboard. Back to being forgotten.”

  2. Doc G,
If that were the case, Jerry Richardson wouldn’t have needed to fire his kids – he could have just gotten a bad face lift and acted like an egocentric blithering idiot.

  3. hhhmmm…From reading these comments it sounds likeMr.G has set up his very own Hateraide franchise and many of the drones are only to happy to drink it up. Sounds like bitter Buc fans.
