Earlier in the preseason, it was believed that the Carolina Panthers were interested in filling the void created by the season-ending injury to defensive tackle Ma’ake Kemoeatu by trading for Browns defensive lineman Corey Williams, a 4-3 defensive tackle who has been moved to end in Cleveland’s 3-4 attack.
As it turns out, the Panthers were interested in a Browns defensive lineman.
But not Williams.
The Panthers have announced that defensive tackle Louis Leonard has been acquired from the Browns for an undisclosed draft choice.
Leonard arrived via waivers from the Rams in 2007. He appeared in 16 games last season for the Browns, starting four times.
Per Steve Reed of CarolinaGrowl.com, Leonard will compete with Nick Hayden for a starting spot in the Panthers’ 4-3 defense.
The Panthers should have first asked the Broncos how all that trading for Browns defensive lineman stuff worked out.
“Earlier in the preseason, it was believed that the Carolina Panthers were interesting in filling the void…”
They were “interesting” in that, eh?
As long as it’s a 6th or a 7th I’m ok with that move. We needed some big mofo to stop the run, and Leonard seems to fit that at 6’4″ and 325 lbs.

Cleveland’s “3-4 attack” LMFAO. Now that was comical.
The Panthers are looking for a run stopper, so they went to Cleveland. That is like going to McDonalds looking for a diet. The last time Cleveland to stop the run was Mike Fratello’s Cleveland Cavaliers.
Florio, why don’t you do some real reporting for a change and find out WTF is going on with Shaun Rogers?
Or did you run out of Manging / Rogers fat jokes?
One of the Browns beat writers was asked to comment about Leonard and his response was literally “I’m not famiiar with his work.” So it’s safe to say this guy may have been “under the radar” in Cleveland… or a nobody.
@Sixburgh Brandon
…or it’s safe to say that you’re as full of sh#t as the refs in Super Bowl XL.
Funny how you reference “one of the Browns beat writers” and also don’t care to provide WHO asked the question.
As the article points out, Louis Leonard played in EVERY SINGLE GAME last year — with 4 starts! “I’m not familiar with his work”?? Yeah, ok bud.
Go pollute the Post-Gazette with your b.s. nonsense.
GO FALCONS!
