One team’s trash is another team’s treasure at this time of year. At least until Saturday, when the treasure is likely trashed again in final cuts.
Trying to avoid the turk for the second time in a week will be offensive lineman Marcus Johnson, who was cut by the Raiders Monday and signed by Tampa Wednesday. The former second-round pick of the Vikings has starting experience, although not as much as the player Tampa dumped for him.
The Buccanneers released guard/center Sean Mahan to make room on the roster. The move is somewhat surprising, if only because Mahan has started 52 games in the league and the team re-acquired him via trade from Pittsburgh last year.
But Tampa paid Mahan a hefty salary to sit on the bench last year, and didn’t even want him back at a reduced rate this time around.
“The move is somewhat surprising”
Anyone that watched him play in Pittsburgh wouldn’t be surprised by the move.
Sean Mahan was one of the worst starting O-linemen to ever don the black and gold.
Or if you watched him play in the pre-season or read the reports of training camp. He has been a huge disappointment and this is surely an upgrade at the #2 position, even without knowing a darn thing about Marcus Johnson.
Or if you ever watched him the first time he played for the Bucs…
The guy has always been lousy.
He looked like a turnstile at the amusement park when he was blocking.
This guy was called “Gayhan” in Pitt, he was so soft. They replaced him w/ the pedestrian Justin Hartwig & still won the SB. NT Williams of SD continually beotch-slapped him one Monday nite gm, 2 yrs ago.
