McDaniels says there are no Marshall trade talks

Amid rumors that the Broncos are talking to one or more teams regarding a possible trade for receiver Brandon Marshall, Denver coach Josh McDaniels said Wednesday that there have been no such communications.

“There is no discussions whatsoever taking place between Denver Broncos and any team in the National Football League regarding Brandon Marshall,” McDaniels said, per the Denver Post. “We’re looking forward to having Brandon back on the 6th of September and starting our [season-opening] preparation with him.”

Newsday has reported that the Jets are seriously considering a trade for Marshall.  The Broncos reportedly are monitoring the Jets’ public comments for evidence of potential tampering.

We’ve gotten mixed indications of late as to whether Marshall is available.  Two teams that would be regarded as candidates for Marshall’s services had not heard from the Broncos, as of a few days ago.  Other sources expressed confidence that the Broncos have been quietly shopping the fourth-year wideout.

  1. McDaniels went on to say that Jay Cutler will be starting for the Broncos on opening day and he passed on his condolences to the family of Terry Bradshaw…

  2. “We’re looking forward to having Brandon back on the 6th of September and starting our [season-opening] preparation with him.”
Must mean the deal is almost done. I vaguely remember similar comments coming out of his mouth shortly after Cutler was traded.

  3. Per Adam Schefter Tweet:
Broncos willing to listen to offers for Brandon Marshall. But it will take player now and pick later, and there’s nothing close right now.

  4. “There is no discussions whatsoever taking place between Denver Broncos and any team in the National Football League regarding Brandon Marshall,” McDaniels said, per the Denver Post.
Not only is McDaniels way over his head as a head coach, bitch doesn’t even know the difference between “there is” and “there are.”
    /grammar snob
Again another plea to fix the frickin’ login.

  5. Isn’t this the same McDaniels who said that there were absolutely no plans what so ever to trade Jay Cutler? Didn’t he keep saying that right up until the moment the trade with Chicago was announced?

  6. A guess:
They were looking into sending him somewhere before he acted like a two year old. After that, they decided he was so damaged that they shut down talks with anyone. Therefore, there are “No Discussions”.
They have to know that his trade value is that of a grilled cheese right now. If they can get anything better than a 4th rounder and a player, they would probably pay for the airline ticket themselves.
It also wouldn’t surprise me if they want the tampering issue to actually happen. It may provide more leverage in discussions.
If the Jets do land him, God help them. If he can’t keep clean in Denver, watch out New York.

  7. Can anyone in the NFL be having a worse time these days then Josh “man crush hoodie wearer” McDaniels?

  8. Here’s a quote from this jerk right before they traded Cutler:
“That’s always going to be the way that this job is. This was just a very highly-publicized situation that was brought to the forefront. (Cutler) is obviously one of our better players, our best players. He’s a good leader and we’re looking forward to having him back here with us.”
“He’s our quarterback,” McDaniels said. “We can’t predict the future. He’s our quarterback, we want him to be our quarterback, we made that very clear to him and we hope he feels the same way.”
    L-I-E-S

  9. “We are not going to pursue Michael Vick and we are happy with the quarterbacks on the roster” says Andy Reid………….. Fast forward 3 days later and Vick was an eagle.
You can NOT believe anything these coaches say about stuff like this.

  10. “There is no discussions whatsoever taking place between Denver Broncos and any team in the National Football League regarding Brandon Marshall,” McDaniels said, per the Denver Post. “We’re looking forward to having Brandon back on the 6th of September and starting our [season-opening] preparation with him.”
Wow, “with any team in the National Football Leaque”, must be a first ……….. Denver is dealing with the UFL, Brandon Marshall is on his way to the UFL

I can’t get over the fact that he did nothing whatsoever to prevent the ONE guy on that team they needed from leaving, yet now he seems to be doing everything in his power to KEEP the one guy on that team that they SHOULD have gotten rid of long ago…it’s mind-boggling.
Oh, and I can’t get over my almost-girly giddiness that the Bears finally have a talented QB.

  12. Cutler gave him no choice with his infantile behavior.
We understand you guys don’t like McDaniels.
Does saying it every day make you feel better, or does it help you to convince yourself you’re justified?
Just think, if he can just get to .500 he’ll have a better record than Cutler.

  13. Sounds like little Mr. Jr. Hoodie is following well in Sr. Hoodie’s footsteps – a fine combination of doublespeak regarding Marshall & nospeak regarding his “description” of Kyle Horton’s injury. What a butt-wipe.

  14. Josh- There haven’t been any trade talks in regards to Marshall….wink, wink….Brandon will be playing for the Broncos this season….wink, wink.
