Could Kevin Curtis get cut?

If Philadelphia doesn’t trade a wide receiver, they will have to cut a familiar name at the position on Saturday.

According to Reuben Frank of the Burlington County Times, the prime candidates are Reggie Brown, Hank Baskett, and Kevin Curtis.

Curtis’ inclusion on the list may turn out to be nothing, but it’s rather surprising.  The former Ram led the Eagles in receiving with 1,110 yards in 2007, but has struggled with injuries since and apparently has endured an uninspiring offseason.

“I don’t have any concerns with Kevin,” offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said. “It’s just simple. If he’s healthy he’ll play at a high level.”

Frank isn’t completely convinced, and says that sixth-round pick Brandon Gibson is a safer bet to make the team after outplaying first-rounder Jeremy Maclin all offseason.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Wednesday that the Eagles are willing to trade Brown, so he still looks like the most likely goner.  If Frank is right, another team could possibly nab Curtis for the right price as well.

Kevin Curtis won’t be cut unless the Eagles are really stupid. Curtis has a knack for catching some of McNabb’s bullets. He is too good to be cut. I am surprised Brown and Baskett are still around. One of them needs to be cut.

Brown makes way too much money to be the team’s 5th WR and he has the most trade value of the available receivers. Unless Curtis’s injury is worse than the fans know, I can’t see any reason why Brown will be on this team come Sunday. After watching the first half of the Eagles game I would love to see Gibson make the team.

Would not surprise me at all if Curtis gets cut or traded. Unfortunately the guy hasn’t looked great in practices or in the preseason games where he’s started, he’s probably still injured, the Eagles are still paying him a bunch of money and he’s either already 31 or getting ready to turn 31. The Eagles already payed him for playing less than a half of a season last year, they should be hesitant to take a risk if they think that Curtis may not last the whole season due to re-aggrivating that sports hernia injury.
    1. Jackson
    2. Maclin
    3. Avant
    4. Brown
    5. Gibson
    6. Basket/Amendola

Hell is Curtis gets cut the Vikings better sign him. Im not sure how he’d fit into the offense but they’d be better in Madden ’10 so im all for it.

J.Cannon, if he gets cut EA has a habbit of lowering player ratings. Deangelo hall started off in the 90′s last season when with the raiders. He has a bad half a season, not a full because he played well with the redskins. And he gets cut by the raiders. Hes 79 in madden 10 regardless of having 20+ passdefends and 5 interceptions last season.
