Kevin Jones carted off with ankle injury

Kevin Jones, the first-round pick of the Lions in 2004, once looked headed for stardom.

Instead, he's battled injuries for the better part of his career before settling into a backup role in Chicago last season.

On Thursday night, Jones suffered another potentially devastating injury.  It's unclear how serious it is, but Jones stayed down for five minutes after hurting his ankle.  He was eventually carted off the field.

If Jones is out for a while, it could allow long-time Bears running back "The Other" Adrian Peterson to make the team and back up Matt Forte.

Forte accounted for a greater percentage of his team's offense than any player in the league last year, and now he might be asked to carry a heavy load again.

Well that made Lovie's job a little bit easier.

Not sure if this is good or bad from either perspective. Do the Bears lose out for this? Not really, the other Peterson seems to be pretty capable. Does Jones lose? He's been collecting a check for doing absolutely nothing, yet again. Cut him?

Big loss for the Bears. Jones isn't spectacular but he is solid enough, and the Bears were hoping to reduce Forte's workload some this year (as compared to last year) by using Jones more. That plan looks a lot less likely now.

I love The Original AP, but losing KJ as a backup will hurt the offense. At least they can throw more and not rack up too many miles on #22.

Very sad. He showed a lot of promise, once upon a time. The Lions made the right decision in letting him go -

Damn--I was looking forward to KJ playing a big role as a #2 punch this year.
All indications were that he was ready to finally live up to some of his draft pedigree.

And except for Dusty, Bears had done a decent job of staying healthy through camp and pre-season.

Well, as long as Forte can sustain his workhorse status, and our AP (or, less likely, Garret Wolfe) can play well in spot duty, we'll be alright.

It's unfortunate he never panned out for anybody.

Looks like he finally caught a break

Well, it was his own damn fault. Why on earth would you jump, apparently for no good reason, out of bounds.

    Two observations:

    1. It's the frickin preseason and you've made the team! Chill out a bit Captain America.

    2. If you're going to run your heart out, RUN out of bounds! Don't leap, skip, dance like a mary, or moon walk out of bounds...you're likely to injure yourself.

    Frickin idiot.

Forte seems pretty damn durable, but now we'll have to listen to all the same-old "other Adrian Peterson" crap for another year.

Why won't Bears just cut The Other Adrian Peterson? Don't they realize how much confusion they are causing?

Sure, because that's MUCH more insufferable than having to hear someonerepeatedly referred to as "All Day" or "Purple Jesus", right?
