A stupid mistake by the NFL.
Uh, yeah you might want to check with a Head Coach or two before you arbitrarily assign a minimum height for a scoreboard in the middle of the field?

Don't forget, Smush, Bill Belichik conducts himself with the utmost class.
Filming defensive signals? Very, very classy.
And it's okay to mock Vick for killing dogs, because the dead dogs don't matter, but it's not okay to mock Jerry Jones for paralyzing his employee by his own cheapness and negligence? That's insulting the poor man!

Can somebody give me a call when the east coast media is finished blowing this story out of proportion?
"Fiasco?" One punt has hit the thing. One. And we're talking about a freakin' punt. Worst case scenario some professional football players have to run down the field again. Yes, NFL punters are capable of hitting it. No, they won't hit every play or even most plays.
Jerry Jones can't build a football team to save his life but he sure as hell can build a stadium. Here in Texas, football is king. We have high school stadiums that put other states' college stadiums to shame. Give Jones credit, he built a great stadium for one of the NFL's great franchises. This is the home they deserve. All this pissing and moaning over the video board smells like another case of east coast envy.

"The scoreboard issue can be blamed on faulty research but its karma that made it happen in Jerry's new stadium.
At least we don't have to worry about it being a factor in a playoff game.
44-6"
----------------
Do you really think "44-6" is some kind of dagger in the heart of Cowboys fans? Believe me, it doesn't even come close to ranking in most heartbreaking Cowboys loses of all time.
I got a score for you. 5-0.

"there were also concerns about engineering and safety"
Oh please. I know quite a bit about rigging and if they can fly the damn thing at one height, while raising it will change the angles of stress, it is very unlikely that it will do so by enough so that it is not safe.
If the safety margin was so small at the design height that they couldn't move it a few feet without damaging the building or having it come down they were criminally negligent in the first place.
And they are already moving it up for the U2 concert to fit that ungodly ugly beast of a set and moving it back down afterwards. Clearly it is safe at a higher height above the field.

haha, fans that ditch the team for another at the first sign of adversity are not valuable. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in well over 10 years but there are still more Cowboys fans than all other fans put together. That's hardcore loyalty. The numbers don't lie. You'll change teams as often as you change your socks but Cowboy fans are Cowboy fans forever.
So, blind loyalty to a team is something you're proud of? That's dumb, even for somebody from Texas.

What "numbers" do you have? I've never seen any official "numbers" and anything that I've seen related to the topic of fan base usually have the Steelers or the Packers at the top of the list.
I will give Cowboy fans credit for being the most obnoxious fans in the country, though. With Raiders fans a close 2nd. Congrats on that.

The lowest point on the OLD video screen at the Superdome was 90 feet high. Ray Guy hit it back in the 70's. If 90 feet was not high enough back then why should it be high enough now? The screen in Dallas is at 90 feet. Are all things bigger in Texas? When is a foot not 12 inches? Such as, that there is 12 inches, when it is really only 4. Never mind.......

The lowest point on the OLD video screen at the Superdome was 90 feet high. Ray Guy hit it back in the 70′s. If 90 feet was not high enough back then why should it be high enough now? The screen in Dallas is at 90 feet. Are all things bigger in Texas? When is a foot not 12 inches? Such as, that there is 12 inches, when it is really only 4. Never mind…….

Levito whines: "Great. Thanks for letting us all know that it's all about $$ in Dallas. In Pitt., NY, and Philly, we value winning more."
What has philly won Mary? Ever?
I've said it before, most teams can't hold a candle the success the Cowboys have had as a franchise. Last ten years not so good, but they can't win all the time. Most of you would die to have your team reach a third of what the 'Boys have accomplished.
Jerry built it to code and the NFL even now says, "hey our bad" yet you simpletons still bleed out your twats over the whole thing.
The Cowboys are more accomplished than your team, worth more than your team and get more pub than your team. JEALOUS much. HAHAHAHA

So how does that square with the Competition Committee saying the Cowboys got the height requirement from "an old NFL manual from the 1950s"?
Seems the NFL has an integrity issue here.

Why are there so many whiners on this site (like test24) who constantly whine about what is covered or how often it is covered?
If you feel a story's been beaten to death, skip over it, dumb ass. Go to the next blurb. Let Florio decide what they want to post on their own goddam site.
And why in heaven's name you'd take some of your "valuable" time to write a site to tell them how much or how little they should cover a story, I can't fathom. Do you really think they give a rat's patootie about your whining?
Just scan down the page, dipstick.

I love it, Jerry is the man and stuck to his guns on not moving it. In case anyone missed it, Forbes new rankings came out today and the Cowboys top the list of most valued franchise. Just thought I would let you Steeler, Giant, and Philly fans know that.
-----------------------------
Gee, I guess that means they're going to win the Super Bowl. It's based on team value, right?
Right?

"The rest of us have the most valued FAN BASES."
haha, fans that ditch the team for another at the first sign of adversity are not valuable. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in well over 10 years but there are still more Cowboys fans than all other fans put together. That's hardcore loyalty. The numbers don't lie. You'll change teams as often as you change your socks but Cowboy fans are Cowboy fans forever.
