Vick scores in New York

Michael Vick has enjoyed a landmark Thursday in the greater New York area.

During the day, he met with Roger Goodell, then found out later his league suspension will end in Week Three.  At night, he reacquainted himself with the end zone.

Vick is expected to play the entire second half of Thursday's preseason game at quarterback, but he's been very busy in the first half as a "Wildcat" option.  Vick scored his first touchdown as an Eagle on a two-yard run up the middle, where he patiently waited for a hole to develop and picked his way into the end zone.

The play was consistent with Vick's usage during the rest of the first half.  He has primarily been used in short-yardage situations with run-pass options.  And he's chosen to run or pitch the ball to a teammate each time thus far, with four carries for nine carries.

Vick has three first downs and a score, although not everything has looked positive.  Twice, he ran to the outside and didn't display the explosive speed he's known for, falling down behind the line of scrimmage once.

The other time outside the pocket, Vick managed to create a six-yard gain out of nothing, even if he didn't look fast doing it.

The play ended on the Eagles' sideline, and the reaction of Vick's teammates was telling.  They all jumped up and down as if the team won the Super Bowl, getting in line to give Vick some love.

Vick's speed needs improvement, but he will present an interesting option for the Eagles in short-yardage situations and on third downs.

In the second half, he'll try to show he can still throw the ball.

UPDATE:  Moments after publishing this post, Vick was intercepted late in the second quarter on a long touchdown attempt that was underthrown.  The dangers of in-game updates.

So what you are saying is he's a slower version of himself that still can't throw.

    Under Thrown ?

Did you watch the play Greg?

It was a pass into the end-zone if he would have thrown it any further it would have been out of the end-zone. The distance was fine the location was the problem. He threw it to the inside where the defender was when he should have threw it to the outside where the receiver was.

It wasnt off by that much either 6 inches to the right and it would have been a touchdown( except it wouldnt have been a touchdown b/c offensive interfernce was called on the play but declined b/c of the pick. Which wouldnt have been declined if Maclin would have caught the ball.)

Can we get a petition up to bring "Playmakers" back, now that reality is proven worse than fiction?

Nice 20 yard sack and fumble by Dog Drownin' Ron just now. But he hasn't left the field on a stretcher yet, and that is unfortunate.
Jets will be my new second fave team if somebody goes and ends #7's career before the end of the night. Lets go!!

    Just
    Eliminate

Vick is awful. And thats against guys that will be working construction next week. Philly would be smart to just end the experiment and send him the the UFL where he belongs.

    Loser.

He might not fare too well with a dog that's not tied up and defenseless.

    0 td
    1 int
    4 sacks

    19 plays 5 net yards

If he were held to the same standard as his dogs, his fellow thugs would be hanging, electrocuting and drowning his worthless ass right now.

Hayward, you called the Jets the sleaziest orginization in the league no more than 3 days ago.

    ------------------

Hayward's morals are all out of whack. He cheers a team who cheated their way to three superbowls and tries to take the high road on Mike Vick.

Sure, Tom Brady never killed a dog in cold blood, but Michael Vick's sadism tarnished his own legacy, not the entire NFL at large. Bill Belichik cannot say that for himself or his QB.

    @ Smush Rodrigez

I don't own a dog, but Vox's sentiments echo mine.

    @ AmishGangsta

I did, and they are. They didn't end his career like I waqs hoping, so they still suck.

    @ Jackal138:

sorry, but reinstating Michael Vick IS tarnishing the NFL, no matter how you try to spin it. Watching the guy on a football field makes my skin crawl knowing what he has done in his personal life.
