Quarterback Rex Grossman, who went from Super Bowl quarterback to languishing free agent in only two years, arrived in Houston during the offseason as the third quarterback on the depth chart.
As the preseason has ended, Grossman might have played his way into a job.
In Friday night’s finale, Grossman completed nine of 16 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
One score came on Grossman’s first attempt — an 87-yard catch-and-run connection with Jacoby Jones.
Along the way, Grossman generated a passer rating of 139.8.
It was — and still is — no lock that Grossman will make the team. But with the oft-injured Matt Schaub again showing signs that he might be Italian, it makes plenty of sense for the Texans to keep three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.

THATS RIGHT BITCHES! SEXY REXY IN THE HEEZY WEEZY!
Grossman always makes a strong case. Almost led the Bears into handing the Titans their first loss last year until he started throwing stuff up for grabs.
Like Lovie once said, “It depends on who shows up, will it be good Rex or bad Rex?”
He was never given a fair chance after the monday night game in arizona. Good for him
They were actually considering cutting Grossman?!?!?! I cant believe they have Orlovsky listed at number 2. There are a lot of experts that have the Texans as a dark hourse team, but every game Shaub misses is automatically a loss, and hes kind of injury prone.
Keep having guys on your roster that 7 step drop out of the back of the endzone!
If Rex gets cut, look for the Patsys to sign him…
I think if Schaub went down, I think Grossman would be a better fill in than Orlovsky. If it were during the game though, Orlovsky would probably finish.
Rex is another Plummer. That’s all. Sometimes really good, sometimes really bad.
