The Chicago Bears have announced a variety of moves that will take their 2009 roster to 53 players.
They have released guard Johan Asiata, defensive end Ervin Baldwin, tackle Cody Balogh, quarterback Brett Basanez, cornerback Rudy Burgess, defensive end Joe Clermond, fullback Jason Davis, linebacker Marcus Freeman, cornerback Marcus Hamilton, linebacker Kevin Malast, receiver Eric Peterman, center Donovan Raiola, receiver Brandon Rideau, linebacker Mike Rivera, fullback Will Ta’ufo’ou (geshundheit), cornerback Woodny Turenne.
Freeman was a fifth-round pick in the 2009 draft.
The Bears also confirmed the termination of the contracts of three vested veterans — guard Dan Buenning, cornerback Rod Hood, and linebacker Darrell McClover.
Finally, the Bears have activated cornerback Charles Tillman from the Physically Unable to Perform list, which makes him eligible to play in the regular-season opener.
